Jace is an excellent coach, recruiter, and person. Like Shann, he is an all-time great from the high school ranks of Montana, specifically Class B. This hiring will also add more fuel for Montana recruiting as Jace has been plucking good Montana kids to play ball at Dickinson State for years.

I love this hire! I've known a few guys who played at DSU, and they've all had fantastic things to say about Schillinger. Do we have any idea what his role will be at UM?

TE coach. Colter says last hire but also heard they are kicking the tires on another hire as 10th assistant but money may be an issue. I like the hire it’s real solid. He’s got great tie ins all over eastern Montana specifically Billings. He’s got a lot of Billings kids over to DSU. Also recruits Wyoming quite well and his offenses were prolific last couple years especially in passing. I think he’ll do great as the bridge on the side line from Rosey up in the booth to the sideline he’s a lot more than a TE coach. He can provide in game adjustment from Rosey. I suspect him and Pease to be on sidelines but might allow to have Pease up in the booth up with Rosey. Either way solid hire for coaching and recruiting.

Also I think with Jace, Shann and Hauck we have guys that know montana recruiting landscape very well definitely will rival Robertson, Armstrong and Gregorak at that other place.

Recruiting was A BIG reason why this hire was done. Jace is a really good football coach. He would have been a head coach in the NAIA very soon, and still may be someday. But, in our neck of the woods, he's literally known as one of the best recruiters in college football, regardless of the level.

This is a stretch. I played football with Don, Roger and Doug Schillinger during the 60's at Circle High School. Don and Jim were cousins to Roger and Doug. That whole family is very athletic. Jace and Shann are sons of Don's younger brother, Jimmy. Jimmy is now in Circle helping with the Circle Wildcat football team who made it to the state class C semifinals this past season. Don is the coach who won over 300 games at Ekelaka and Baker. I was center on the team in Circle and he was the QB. Still chat with him now and then. Go Griz!
