Diabetic Griz player

I was told that one of our current players is a diabetic and offers his time talking to kids with diabetes. I am a school nurse and have several young diabetics. I would like to be able to us this athlete as an example, for these children. In the past I used Adam Morrison at Gonzaga to show them that they could do whatever they wanted to as far as sports, and not let diabetes hold them back. Does anyone know if one of the players is diabetic and who he would be?

It is Kyle Sharp. There was an awesome article about him in the Missoulian right before the Griz-Cat game - I think on Friday.
 
I do not have the phone number on me, but just look up University of Montana mens athletics in the phone book, then look for basketball. Julie Tomkin should be able to fill you in just fine. It is Kyle Sharp, and he does make a great impact on any child. Hope it helps!

There may be a Lady Griz player that was mentioned publicly as being diabetic as well. I am not 100 percent confident in that so I don't want to say but you could ask the staff.

There is at least one Lady Griz player who is Diabetic, plus assistant coach Trish Duce (as well as her husband Griz great Kirk Duce) is also very involved with juvenile diabetic issues in Missoula and the state.
 
Thanks for all the links and info. One of the kids I was referring to is a 9 year old boy who loves sports. I am printing out some of the articles you linked to show him. Nice to be able to give him such a positive role model here in our area. He was at a men's game during Christmas break, but I don't know if he knew about Kyle.
 
I believe Jay Cutler, quarterback for the Denver Broncos also has diabetes. Just giving you more athletes to tell the kids about.
