Looks like we had some sweet darker shaded unis. I bet the "classy uni contrasting numbers crowd" wasn't happy about this.
There was no upper deck then.
Feild had track around it
Moot point

The original classic.
Those are taco colors. It's maroon & silver w/ gold piping around numbers. Let maroon represent copper.

If you want to call our sacred original colors “taco colors”, go right ahead. It doesn’t change the fact that some of us were fans before the new colors, and we appreciate the old ones.

As some of us appreciate the even older colors which are the same as the new colors.

Bahaha! Sure thing. A few too many at the Old Atlas there, Kemmy.

And a damn good cinder track. State Interscholastic Meet there for many, many years.
Might have to explain about a "cinder track." Nobody would spend that kind of money today, but I always thought it was the easiest on the lower body of anything I ever ran on. Note: Have only jogged on any of the latest "artificial" surfaces ... but nothing modern seems to have the same comfort level.

And when maintained right like the UM track was, it was fast. I was in the race when Randy Hyvonen ran the 1:52 flat 880 in '63. Broke the state record by 4 seconds. But they were manpower intensive and the good RR cinders are no longer available.
