Depth?

Depth could be an issue against Weebs tonight. Weber is very deep. Last night we only went 8 deep and only 3 points off the bench. The starters had a ton of minutes. Cherry went the whole game. Jammar continues to have a problem with cramps. I hope the guys slept better that I did. I was still fired up long past midnight. Lets suck it up one more time! Goooo Grizzzzz!

Weisner could play the whole game if need be.

Deshields and Wood can give good chunks of minutes if need be. However, I think the boys will be ready to go today and we are fretting over naught.

I'm also hoping this doesn't become an issue. Based on the limited amount of playing time the bench has gotten this year, one would think that the Griz has a weak bench with players that are limited or that the team would slide back if they were given more than just a few minutes here and there. This is not the case. There's a lot of talent on that bench that can contribute if given the chance.

I've watched all but one of the Griz games this year and I can only recall one instance in which the bench was mass substituted toward the end of a game and the opponent went on a run that caused Tinkle to put the starters back in. In all other cases the substitutes pretty much held the score at where it was with the starters in there or even increased the Griz lead or cut into the opponents lead.

At this point, with the success the Griz have had (24-6 record), you really can't fault Tinkle much with basically playing 5 1/2 guys. That philosophy is somewhat of a gamble though. I do know that the bench could have been utilized and prepared more than they have. I just hope everyone stays healthy and the Griz can get by Weber and shock a team or two in the NCAA tourney.

To paraphrase the man behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz, we've got one thing they haven't got: Cherry.

we used up a lot of energy as did Webs last night......what is left in our tank? Emotionally we will be there, what is the cost of even shorter rest and recovery time?

go Griz

Cherry often plays 38-39-40 minutes.

That is the big difference between this year's UM team and what has been in Missoula for a long time..UM has a good bench, lots of talent that can come through if necessary and have shown it consistently all year...

The guys answered my question. Who needs depth!? All 5 starters play the entire second half. The bench was a non-factor. Cherry played all 80 tourney minutes. Great job Griz!
