Depth Chart for Week 1

Some very interesting observations, noting that things can change quickly & this may not be the exact depth we see on gameday:

-Eastwood as starter at RB. Must be something special if he is beating out Lee for the starting spot.
-No Buss at LB. This could be a surprise gameday change, but too bad that he cant go.
-Sims at DT. I thought he had switched to DE, but will be exciting to see him again at DT
-Calhoun both starting at CB & on kick return. The guy is very athletic, but to be starting week 1 after not switching till summer/fall is pretty cool

Calhoun starting at corner is both impressive and terrifying IMO. One does not just become a Division 1 starting corner after a single training camp unless he is truly gifted, or.....

I'll just go with he is truly gifted.

I mean he was a very very good corner in a huge California division.

Probably should have been playing corner the whole time but Stitt was a puss and let the kid push him to play WR.

Interesting o-line.

Sneed, Eastwood, Bingham. Calhoun no where in sight.

As stated, no Buss. LB's are Olson and Lewis, with Cochran behind Lewis.

Sims listed a d-tackle. Nelson, at 231, at d-end.

Semenza, the kicker. Adam Wilson on kickoffs. Is he the rugby player from AZ?

Hauck no. 1 ahead of Miller, in 5-back. Epperly no. 2.

Yes, Calhoun starting at corner.

Danny Burton from Helena at back up receiver, along with Roberts.

I guess I didnt know that Calhoun would not be playing RB....

What do we know about this Eastwood kid???

Clint's kid. Tough as hell.

haha

Wasn't Justin like a top 50 CB coming out of HS? I could be wrong but i remember people discussing why he was at WR but we needed WR depth when he came in.

Eastwood has sneaky speed, has a low center and falls forward. reminds me of some of our past RB's.

All the interviews I’ve heard the media has yet to even inquire into Jeremy Calhoun with Hauck. It’s like this thing everybody sort of has 3rd and 4th hand knowledge of it but the media hasn’t asked. Now with a public depth chart how do you not ask and get a comment on it.

Place kicker scares the hell out of me. What the heck happened to Purdy? He got the yips or something?

No reason to be scared. Just good competition, I would feel confident about both of them taking a winning kick

For those of us that caught practices and the scrimmages this depth chart is almost precisely as I expected to see it within a few guys and saving a couple of backup spots being jogged around. This team really had guys settle into their spots rapidly.

Thinking from day 1 of fall camp to this depth chart, the only real changes were some of the O-line spots due to what went down there through fall camp. Calhoun hopping Crow and Lewis hopping Cochran. Some of the 2nd team guys rising up like Deming at TE, Roberts at WR, and that's about it... really.

I’m guessing Jeremy is suspended from this game hence the no discussion on him in the RB room whatsoever.

He was an all league corner in HS. Started 3 years and didn’t even play WR until his senior year. I think I’m more impressed that he was such a stud receiver for us what with his lack of experience there.

I’ve heard from many that he reminds folks of Chase Reynolds. That is huge praise and I don’t want to anoint the kid yet, but even if he’s 3/4 of Chase this is stellar.

Same kind of skill sets. All of our running backs need embrace contact more. I think that would be something chase did better than anyone.

It is truly impressive...I'll be cheering like hell for him.

It's just amazing to me that he can make the transition so quickly. It's not even remotely the same given he has extensive experience now, but still terrifying that it is kind of like starting a tru freshman at CB.

Just one observation, not certain if it's good or bad. Based on the projected starters the O-line does not average over 300 lbs as has been indicated. The actual starting 5 average in at 297.8 lbs. Still a lot of beef but not nearly what was speculated.

2.2 lbs off then. I don’t think that is “not nearly”

If you include everyone, not just the starters I believe theyd be well over.
