Some Griz/Cat fans cannot get past this "macho/childish" feeling that they must HATE everything that has to do with the other team... Not a new thing .... these feelings transcend the boundaries of MT.

Bobcats and Grizzlies are both MONTANA critters. There are lots of Montana kids on the Bobcats. How can a true Montanan say that they HATE Montana kids no matter who they play for. I am a native Montanan who grew up in Bobcat territory in Central Montana but at an early age I chose to be a Griz. I WILL ROOT FOR THE CATS AND HOPE THEY WIN THE NC game. They are from my home state. EWU, CalPoly, App St, et all AREN'T... I will keep my allegiance here in Montana.   GO CATS....
I do not hate the Bobcats. I simply do not root for them. I never have; I never will; end of discussion. And, FWIW, I too grew up in central Montana.
And, are you saying we should root for, say, the Stanford women, because a Montana woman plays for them? That's what I hear with your argument that you root for the Cats because there are Montanans on the team. I would root for the Griz if there weren't a single Montana kid on the team; in fact, that's pretty close to being the case for the BB team. You can root for whoever you want; I don't care; it's your business. Just don't tell me who I have to root for.

Well said!

Very well said!!! I think people take the rivalry wayyy too far, and honestly, at least since the inception of Egriz and BN, I see alot of BS from both sides. I am proud to say i love the Griz and i hate Montana State. Having said that, my hatred is purely of the name and logo. Do I hate the players and coaches? HELL NO! Pretty effin stupid to hate someone you don't even know or only thibnk you know because of stuff they write on their arm or how they perform on the football field.

In fact, I can say you'll pretty much NEVER see me bash an MSU player, no matter what. And you'll see me give respect and credit where credit is due. I kinda wish a few posters, in particular a very select few Bobcat posters saw the rivalry that way but they just don't and while I think it's silly to hate players, I guess they have that right. I have briefly met DM twice and he as an outstanding person and a GREAT QB. But am I going to cheer for his team in the playoffs? NO. He has plenty of MSU fans and he doesn't need me. Just the way it is.

DM is a standup kid, Bozo better enjoy, they would be lucky to be a .500 team without him.....

Dakota Prukop. You'll soon know that name very well for the Cats after next year.

Exactly what I was thinking.
I agree that Dakota is a heck of a recruit, I am hearing stories similar to what was heard the year that McGhee redshirted. Jake Bleskin has the makings of a solid QB also, so the competition in the spring of 2014 should be interesting

Absolutely nothing wrong with rooting against your rival. I hate the argument of rooting for Montanans, or the team for Montana. F that. As far as I'm concerned, yes there are Montanans on the Griz, but they all made terrible choices. :)

The best I can do is be indifferent to a Griz game. Even if a Griz win helps the Cats in the standings somehow, I can't bring myself to actually root for them.

That being said, this really only applies to football. I sincerely root for the Griz men and women when they are dancing in March. Not at any other point though. But when the Griz football team is in the playoffs, you'll find no love from this Cat fan.

You sir, are a genius. My thoughts exactly with Cats and Griz flip-flopped.

I've always thought you were a decent guy. Now I have written proof. Just switch the names around, and i totally agree.

CatzWillRise, I TOTALLY agree with you, from the flip side of the coin. This kumbaya soccer mom sh*t gags me. Good post!

FWIW, I root for the Stanford women now :)
