I for one would point to Hauck's common inability to score TDs from inside the 5 due to consistent use of the 7 yards deep delayed handoff, or Pflugrads keeping the leagues worst punter on the roster each of his years at the helm as well as generally horrible special teams play his first year. All our coaches have slipped up on some aspect of the game at some point. Delaney is no worse and he runs a clean ship.

Mistakes I would cut slack for if Delaney was a second year running backs coach who was forced into the HC position for one game because the rest of the staff was out with the flu. Mick's HC gig at Dillon showed he did not have what it takes to be a top-tier head coach. 30 more years of coaching and he still made those inconceivable mistakes.

You can take the head grill cook from Dennys and put him in charge as head chef at Spago. He might be able to get some good food out of the kitchen with the old staff for a while but you won't see new, innovative, top flight meals or exceptional service from the kitchen. He doesn't have the training plus intangibles it takes to do that.

I can understand why Mick might not know or see his limitations but there's no reason for anyone else to be in denial. Just because I have my mother's recipes, pots and pans, and stove doesn't mean I can do what she does in the kitchen. I accept I don't have her intangible qualities that make her so great in that capacity.

The storm has been weathered, so let's see excellence back in that position.

Last year we beat MSU, Cal Poly & UC Davis, all of whom were 5-3 in conference. The year before we beat Liberty.

Last year we beat MSU, Cal Poly & UC Davis, all of whom were 5-3 in conference. The year before we beat Liberty.

Well, focusing on last year when the Caddy was essentially up and running again, one could ask "who did we lose to?" EWU, NAU, Coastal. Not saying we shouldn't have beat all of them, and we played well enough to be in the games to the end, but these were pretty decent teams and in each of them the Griz had a shot but for a couple plays here and there. So, on the whole it was a pretty solid year. Everyone in the conference, save EWU, would take it in a heartbeat, so we can consider the Griz to still be at or very near the top. Room for improvement? Of course.

We beat up on the mediocre and lower-tier teams well last year, but we have to start beating the good upper tier teams to be considered one of the teams at the top again.
