and then all of the naysayers will be crawling out of their basements wanting to hang the coach..

I made that mistake with Pflu--specifically after the Sac State debacle in 2011. I am on record as stating I'm going to withhold (negative) judgement on Stitt and his offense until after the first year.

OH hell yes! The Naysayers will think Griz Nation is thru! Just for the record, so there is no confusion in my loyalty! My room is reserved in Frisco Texas!

Man, you military guys are so organized. Good for you!

I'll go on the limb and say defenses will be competitive at the FBS level, and coach Stitt's offense will not be anything that won't be able to adapt to and defend, and he will continue with mediocrity as he had in the fifteen years at School Of Mines.

He will probably win as many NC that he has on his resume thus far, and hopefully win more conference titles that are on his resume.

With all the hype and anticipation posted here on EGriz, sure make his mountain to climb an accomplishment that few can complete, hope he is the ONE.

Although I wait till the start of the season, and play one game at a time, before installing coach Stitt into the Walk Of Fame.

Whatever happens I for one won't be disappointed, with his success, and hopefully not a failure.

It's a big step for him, and it appears he is up to the challenge.

I think Coach Stitt's 4 receiver offense will be a lot of fun to watch, once it is installed and starts firing on all cylinders--sounds like the learning curve will be steep !!! Hopefully, everything is running smoothly by game 2 or 3.

Opposing D's are either going to have to use a safety to cover one of our WR's, pull a linebacker to run the nickel--3-3-5, or go to a 3-4-4 or a 4-2-5 --Coach Stitt's pinball offense should put a lot of pressure on opposing D's. I can envision our running game doing some serious damage with such a defensive alignment in addition to our passing game and our 4 WR's on almost every play.

It would be nice to have one or two games under our belt with the new O before playing NDSU. The good news: I don't think the Bison see this kind of offense in the Missouri Valley Conference--more pro-set's like we ran under Mick, so to prepare for our O, they will have to watch CSM film, not GRIZ film from last year.

Look, we all love UM, but it is NOT CSM academics-wise. Pretty much all he had to work with there were eggheads and valedictorians who could also play a little football. Give him a chance with the kind of talent we're able to bring in before you doom him to mediocrity.

Teams will want keep the ball in front of them, force the Griz to complete many short passes waiting for us to make a drive killing mistake. With a new system, mistakes will be made. Until the point where we prove we can hit the short passes consistently, with few mistakes.

In the first few games we will have the advantage of surprise, as there won't be a whole lot of film available to study. Hopefully that will compensate for our lack of proficiency with the system. I'd like to see us play NDSU twice in 2015, just so we can see the growth in a single season. Look at how much better Coastal Carolina did vs the Bizon from 2013 (48-14) playoffs to 2014 playoffs (39-32).

A few good signs will be:

If you see defenders look squirrelly, appearing that they don't know which player to cover. This is a foundation of Stitt scheme; Put a player in a pickle and make him wrong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGDvNPDOARY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (watch the second half of the clip.)

When teams start using reduced fronts to get more defenders out in coverage. It'll mean that they don't believe that their base defense will work.

This man knows of what he speaks. Find a weakness & exploit it.

Stitt's offense revolves around the QB making quick decisions and throwing completions. Doesn't matter if it's for minimal yards or for a loss, throws have to be completed. That's why there are 20 QB's and 50 WR's on this roster, their roles are huge. The passing game will control clock/tempo to set up the run and Stitt's fly sweep. That's the key.

Opposing defenses will either be aggressive bringing pressure or will be deceptive in coverage.

I can tell you the defense is 100% Ty Gregorak's responsibility. I spoke to a few of the players sitting in front of me at the BSC Men's Tournament. I asked how things were going with Stitt. The handful I was speaking to said, the offense will be terrific and the fans will not be disappointed. I also asked about the defense. They said, it will be great and Stitt is letting Ty control it 100%.

I really don't know what better validation we can get than players saying this?

Precisely, he is taking a huge step forward proportionality-wise. He was a step behind the rest of the conference with his talent at CSM, at UM...he will be in great position to be a step ahead. He can recruit players who aren't engineering majors now.

Never doom him to mediocrity, just stated the evident, his record at School Of Mines, I am hoping for the best for him, I'm just not ready to make him coach of the year without coaching one game at the FBS level.

You are right, it appears and looks like the athletes that he will lead are here, let's wait and see what happens before installing coach Stitt to the Walk Of Fame.

Ooops, posted it in the wrong thread. Hell, I don't remember which thread I meant to post it in. :thumb:

I don't consider the positive fan support to GRIZ fans putting him to a Walk of Fame level. What I see is excitement from a stagnant, impatient, passionate, and caring fan base. Stitt has this support because of his innovative approach. In addition, he gets the expectations, our fans, culture, and state.

I remember when his name 1st surfaced. There were a lot of naysayers, doubters, and fans asking "Who"? I was not negative toward him, just did not know much about him. I took the time to research him more. By the time I did, I was thought he was well worth giving the benefit of the doubt to. Then, he was hired. He sold me more at his press conference. Then he closed recruiting out strong. At the recruiting banquet, I got meet him. I was even more sold on Stitt.

I feel I am an example of many GRIZ fans having gradually learned to respect Stitt and excited to see what results he brings to GRIZ football. It is nice to have some fresh blood and new approach leading GRIZ football. Stitt's hire will make or break Kent Haslam. I for one believe Still will turn out to be one of the best hires in GRIZ football history.

Mtgrizrude, I must say I agree with your last sentence. Anytime you hire a person you must look at his past. Stitt had a great life going at his previous job. He was smart in not jumping at chances to take on half assed programs. A coaches life is always move on, get hired, win games, get fired, lose players, lose games, move on again and many more issues that are mostly bad. His life was great because he found a nice place to live, made a decent living and probably could have retired in the same house. Smart.

Why is he a great get for Montana? Number 1 he is smart. Number 2 he is innovative. Number 3 he is a great person. Number 4 he is able to delegate. Number 5 he is a great recruiter. Number 6 he "gets it". Number 7 he is a quick thinker. Number 8 he speaks very well. Number 9 he is an honest guy. Number 10 he is a very good coach!

Of course I don't expect the usual doubting Thomas types to figure this out for a season or two but most astute Griz fans picked up on coach Stitt right away. But Stitt will do very well at Montana. He took the Montana job because it has a fantastic fan base, great facilities, a solid athletic department and a very good place to live and raise his kids. Include a nice pay raise and a great climate and of course a challenge. Montana has a winning tradition and he was sold on this job quickly.

Of course Stitt will have some down times ahead but U can bet he will many more up times!

Wisdom spoken here! You might fly high this year, you might sink low...remember one year does not a trend make, but it does show more than all the prognosticating before game 1.

If early practices are any indicator Gregorak has it figured out. Press-coverage and heavy blitzing. Should be interesting to see Stitt's offense adjust as these guys get more comfortable in the new system.

I heard that Chris Parker is having a solid week on the defensive side of the ball..

Music to my ears. I hear Parker is looking good at DB as well.

Let's all hope that Ty has access to everyone else's meeting rooms before he defines how to D them up. Defense will be ahead @ first. The turning point will be when the O-line solidifies, the receivers run the right routes & the QB's know what to do. Then watch what happens. Net benefit is that Stitt will make the defense that much smarter and more adaptable to what they will see from the opponents.

For those of you who think Stitt has abdicated all the responsibilities related to defense, think again.

"You have to learn to love when they blitz ya!" said every pass happy coach ever.

Solid is an understatement :thumb: Nelson, McKinley and Parker have been picking off passes and blowing up a lot of plays since last week. Pick-6's, INTs, PBU's, you name it.
