Decision made

My personal belief is the when Stitt was hired, it was NOT for the long term but rather to install his "offense" achieve some success and move on and be succeeded by Gregorak. had Gregorak been a bit further removed from the goings on in Nevada given the political climate at he time he may have been hired then. Then the whole "plan" blew up. haf gregorak gone anywhere but MSU, it might still have worked out.

Stitt came into a tough situation mad tougher by not once having a starting QB for the season, short scholarships, and program starting/continuing a decline. (not to mention designed on an offensive scheme that had been obsolete for 20 years)

My guess is the announcement will come that Stitt and the U of M were unable to agree on terms saving face for everyone. Haslam will go to his list that he has undoubtedly been working on for at least a year.

I think that's a real possibility. Stitt is not getting fired and he won't fire Jason Semore. But I do think there's a realistic chance he won't sign what's being offered.

With the massive coaching carousel going on this year, I would be okay with kicking the can down the road on this one. This is absolutely not a good situation for UM to be in.

...as a contractor he also knows if a sub-contractor doesn't carry the job out to certain standards
he is replace quickly..when it comes to contracting you don't have the luxury of time..time is
money..either you picked the right SUB or you replace him..Washington understand this..its not
about patience its about efficiency in getting the right personal..so l think you statement is miss

Disagree with ya Zen , Contracting "time is money"
There is a reason the have apprentices ," low cost why they learn "
I would be broke if my guys were paid like journeymen and they didn't know what the hell they were doing .Things of value do take time but contracting is not one of them.
I don't think zen is talking about individual projects. I think he means DW was able to become a donor after he spent decades of hard work building his companies.

I guess we are both right Grizzoola :thumb:

It's funny Stitt thinks he is ANY position to demand terms. It's best if he just refuses and walks away. Ridiculous.

And, I am actually FOR an extension....2 years with zero buyout.

Well - there's this - team meeting at 2:30pm and the season ending presser moved to 4pm...

Exactly. Current deal is ending and both sides have to agree to terms of a new contract. If they cannot agree, both sides can walk away and maybe even save some face. It would not be a bad result.

Will there be any audio or live video for this?

So far Hasslam has shown that he doesn't know his job - he's consulting the world about what to do while other Universities have already made their decisions - the day of or day after the last conference game. Why the delay and all the hyperbole in the newspaper about all that he's considering? Just get the damn job done and move on! Is it a tough decision? Yes, and it's his to make but he wants to wait until the emotion is relieved? Are you kidding? He shouldn't be thinking about emotion at this point. He should be thinking about saving his own job.

From my dealings with Haslam, he is not thinking with emotion. He is not even thinking about saving his own job. He is doing his job. He is determining whether to offer another contract to the head coach or not. Many factors involved and most of what is said here is speculation on what he is or should be doing. Only he knows.

I was speaking to Hasslam's comments in the paper. His decision shouldn't take that long.

It's not quite as obvious as you think. I'm glad that time is being taken for this. Emotional decisions are rarely the right one.

I'm not saying it's obvious or easy at all. His emotions shouldn't play into it either. Never should. His best response imho is "a decision will be made soon," period.

Stitt's detractors may be 100% correct. But here's a question I would pose to his most vehement critics. If the contract is extended, would you rather the program crashes in order to prove you right, or would you eat your crow and jump back on the bandwagon if he gets it turned around? I'm not saying that would happen. Just wondering how invested you are in your animosity.

I just heard they have agreed to extend Stitt for two seasons with a 3rd season buyout at a reduced rate if he doesn’t produce. Stitt refused to accept a one year deal or to allow any outside influence over who was part of his staff.

I’m glad he stood his ground. This is what is best for the program. Two years from now we will be extending him again. I think he’ll put together a deep playoff run next year or the year after.

Wrong
