Dear kitten fans

Not when you, not us, claim it as a great victory: " See, Bubba, we can beat them Bison after all."

""Yeah, but weren't they still Div. II, we scheduled them early in the season 2005 for the sure W, we barely won 20-17, were ' O for' ever since they moved up to FCS in 2008, including 1 quarterfinals at Bobcat Stadium and 2 national championship losses, and the last time we beat them when we were both in the same division was 1976 ? "

" Would it make you feel better if we lost to them also when they were still Div. II like our embarrassing loss to Div. II Chadron State ? And remember that Div. II loss to Chadron can easily be explained by our players' attention being distracted by their research project in entrepreneurship In our school of business:clandestinley smuggling massive quantities of cocaine and meth from California to Bozeman and then successfully marketing said illegal drugs in the Gallatin Valley and beyond with murder as extra-credit and one of our own coaches was quietly a proud project sponsor...at least he was until he too was arrested !"
Preach it dude, I hear you. I was just trying to clarify.

Well done my friend, well done.

Okay, maybe you should just tell us what this other person is thinking.
BillingsGriz was mocking him for acting like it was an accomplishment to beat NDSU when NDSU was in a division lower than MSU at the time of the game.

The irony in this, is that BillingsGriz, like most Griz fans, likes to tout the overall record for UM against MSU, when a significant number of those games were played when MSU was in a division lower than UM at the time.

I am dedicating " Crying ," from the late-great Roy Orbison to you, '99. : ( !!!

And why were they a division lower? I can only assume because they sucked.

Gotta say BG, that THIS comment coming from a griz fan directed to a Cat fan is absolute gold!

Hey, ILC, I would cling to that win, too , and totally overlook the fact that the only time we beat NDSU for the last 50 years was when they were Div. II and MSU was 1-AA, FCS, and hang my hat on that to cope with NDSU ending our season 3 of the last 4 years with bitter losses, once in the quarterfinals in your prefab litter-box stadium in Boz Angeles and twice in the NC on national television. It is disingenuous but apparently a somewhat effective coping technique for MSU fans here on their rival's board, egriz, and elsewhere !!!.

I researched this several years ago so l don’t have the exact numbers, but the Cats were in a division lower than the Griz for approximately 15 to 20 years prior to both teams going into the Big Sky. Some of the Cats best teams and a lot of their wins were during those years including the 50s championship. Prior to about 1950 there was no such thing as lower divisions, just different conferences. During those years the Cats were in a Rocky Mountain conference with the likes of Utah and Wyoming, and the Griz were in a west coast conference with the likes of Washington and USC. During those years both teams were pretty mediocre but the Griz dominated when they played each other.

So what you're saying here is that we shouldn't value wins over teams from a lower level?

This place should be proud of the history in the Pacific Coast Conference from 1924-1950. I would be. This conference included Cal, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Wazzu, and few others. Impressive. The Cats were NAIA.

However, the fact that the Cats won any games in this period is a complete embarrassment to your University. Somebody posted (I haven't verified) that the series is 37-37 when both teams are playing at the same level. Can somebody verify? I believe you are ahead 33-29 in the Big Sky Conference era. I count the 2011 game btw. I was there. You beat our asses.

No, absolutely not--when a certain team from Fargo bitterly ends your season 3 of the last 4 years in dramatic fashion at your stadium and twice on national television from Frisco in front of God and everyone else and when you're FCS, they're FCS, and your only win for the last 50 years occurred when you were Div. 1-AA, FCS and they were Div. II, I would also cling to that win, even though MSU barely won what was supposed to be a beat down , 20-17--that's why FCS teams schedule Div. II teams, afterall.--because it's apparently an effective coping technique for you and a lot of your MSU peers.

Excellent news! I'll be looking forward to your revision of UM and MSU's all time record then. Thanks friend!

Do you guys also brag about your 0-1 record against Butte High School? Or your 0-2 record against Butte business college? But hey you're 1-0 against the Butte ramblers and 1-1 against the anaconda athletic club.:)
