I would suggest that a young man recruited to kick field goals and extra points, giving him $50,000 to do it and then watching him fail is no different than any player making a mistake on the field. The problem is that there are coaches on the offensive side of the game who have no clue. Running on first down every time is not a good way to build an offense. Don Read knew it and every coach since then has benefited from Don's creativity. This offensive staff is very stoic and I doubt they will be successful.

1. I don't think Lider is "terrible" but I think we should be able to count on our kicker to make at least most chip shots. I have faith he will improve, as will the whole team.
2. Don't feel sorry for me that Alpha gives me shit every day - he is a dick to everyone and I would feel like I was doing something wrong if he wasn't an a-hole to me.
3. As a writer with future career in politics, I take criticism every day and if someone playing college ball can't take criticism and learn and grow from it, he shouldn't be playing.
4. Yes, I do have kids. And I have raised them to do their best, roll with the punches and take constructive criticism as a learning tool and grow from it. It is the kids who are told they are great no matter what and given trophies for participating, IMO, who struggle the most in the real world.

I don't like to pile on a young athlete, but in this case I think GG has a point, minus some of the vitriol.
A kicker's job is to execute a specific athletic action, usually not affected by outside actions by other athletes on the field. Both kicks appeared to me to be adequately snapped, held, and blocked up front.
Our kicker failed a couple times today, and the criticism is justified. Hopefully it will be constructive to him and make him work to be better.
Chris Lider probably doesn't want an orange slice here; if he is a competitor he knows he didn't do his job.
