Dave Dickenson is the Canadian Football League’s 2016 coach of the year. The Calgary Stampeders bench boss was honoured Thursday in Toronto as part of the CFL’s awards gala at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

In his first season as head coach, Dickenson led the Stamps to a league-best 15-2-1 record and first place in the West as Calgary set a franchise record for most standings points (31) in one season. The Great Falls, Mont., native also set a league record for most wins by a rookie head coach and led his team to a Grey Cup berth with a 42-15 win over the BC Lions in the Western Final.

Under Dickenson, the Stamps won 14 games in a row and had a 16-game unbeaten streak, the longest such single-season streaks in CFL history. Including the playoffs, the team was 10-0 at home, 10-1 against West Division rivals and during the regular season Calgary led the CFL both in points scored and fewest points allowed.

Dickenson also serves as the Stamps’ offensive coordinator, guiding a unit that featured the league leader in passing touchdowns (Bo Levi Mitchell) and rushing yards (Jerome Messam). The Stamps allowed the fewest sacks in the CFL.

With an EWU qb no less.

Congratulations to Dave and the entire Calgary organization!

Maybe Dave has a few pointers he can give Bob Stitt.

DD's Stamps struggling vs Ottawa, who leads at the half 20-7, and former Griz Travon Van having a pretty good game for them. Bo Levi-Mitchell for Calgary not so.

Dave is to us what Harbaugh is to Michigan, can we find a few million dollars and bring him home haha? (Obviously i know this is a reach)
