Daum

This is sad news and if true, wish him the best.

I'm interested in what exactly is going on behind the scenes with this team and why some of our best talent is packing up and leaving. I'm beginning to lose confidence in our coaches in their decision making and relationships with the athletes.

Daum quit and is gone. Depressed and Swett showing him no respect, the straw that broke the camel's back. May be burned out with football and go somewhere to play baseball. Apparently not the only one in that group that's unhappy.

There is, and has been since last spring, considerable noise out there about Coach Stitt's interactions with players (as well as some supporters). Some of you who are so positive on the new coach may want to do some checking around. It looks as if kemajic may have heard or experienced some of this.

Best talent? The kid hadnt even taken a snap and your worried that its the coaches fault for him leaving? I highly doubt it was because of our coaching staff. I had heard it was because of injury but who knows right?

Thats whats wrong.. Kids coming in here wanting the coaches to kiss their ass and when it doesnt happen their ego gets hurt and then they become a cancer to the team..

No kidding. Damn coaches and their high expectations.

I hope this is not true. If so, my best to him. As for the players having a problem with a coach or coaches, it sounds to me some players don't like competing for playing time if they are not given so much time. I am not saying who that may or may not apply to, but do know Stitt has a very competitive environment with high expectations. To me, that is how it should be.

The "noise" was coming up already last Spring. As I said then, this coach "coaches with his elbows." It is interesting to see alums claim that "by God that's the way it should be," and then blame the players. This isn't about "high expectations." I've always had high expectations and been around plenty of coaches who had high expectations. "Being an asshole" to people isn't part of that.

I am not blaming anyone...not the coaches or the players. The coaches will coach the way they do until they do not win. Then, they will be gone. The players leaving the program either cannot or will not achieve the coaches expectations.

I have absolutely zero inside information. But, I have never heard the word "asshole" used to describe the coaches. I am giving the coaches the benefit of the doubt on this stuff. Others may choose to give it to the players....that's ok with me.

YAWN... A redshirt that never played a down quits the team? Wow, huge news! Yet another example of eGriz hype unfulfilled.

What's our move here 75? Should we fire Stitt now or give him till the end of his contract?

It was quite the hype, Daum was a key part of the "best recruiting class ever," and proof positive of Stitt's recruiting prowess.

This is one reason I barely read the "recruiting" threads.

I hear there's an opening in the Ceramics department if you don't fill the position.

I see you posted elsewhere that you have no inside information. How do you know that Daum's departure has anything to do with high expectations, and how do you know what people, or some people, or players or some players, think of Stitt, if you have no knowledge of the situation?

That's your answer to my question?

Oh you mean the coaches aren't babying kids that are used to being the stars and getting their way at all costs....ya sounds like a real problem.

True I hear Hauck, Saban, and Belichick are all considered real nice caring people....similar to Ron Ash.

Did any of them have as many players depart the program when they arrived at their schools? I know Hauck and Ash didn't.

Comments on eGriz Club from a couple of our more respected posters seem to indicate a lack of effort by Daum. If so, I have even more respect for Coach Stitt. He is at UM to win, not coddle.

And PR, I remember specifically when Bobby came in, he tried to kick 4 guys off, who immediately lawyered-up and remained with the team. I know one of those guys, but don't think he wants his named mentioned here. He did become a contributer to the Team and later a high school coach.
