Daum is hanging up the cleats

Noticed he wasn't on the MSU roster a few weeks ago and now Skyline has confirmed he's quit the Bobcats football program. The release said he's had 5 surgeries in the last 3 years.

Bummer that such a great high school talent couldn't stay healthy to show what he could do at the college ranks. I had high hopes for him as a Griz and begrudgingly wished him well as a cat.

Wow literally all my favorite media sources breaking this story, Ted Dawson (Easily the best sportscaster in Montana) and Skyline Sports (The disrupter of the montana sports media business, very comparable to uber vs the taxi unions). Hope this kid can get right and get back after it someday, i'd love to see him lose a few games to the griz.

Too bad for Daum....but Ted Dawson is a clown. Richie Melby is far better sports guy....he actually covers things and doesn't just drop names from 30 years ago and do a horribe stand up comedy act every night on sports like Ted does.

Very questionable about the accuracy of the press release. A great athlete but doubtful that he had the work ethic to be successful at the Big Sky level. That was an issue when he was at UM and also when he was at Butte High. But athletics is not all that important and college football is not for everyone including those with talent. Apparently he is a good student and a very respectful person. Hope the best for him.

This made me LOL! Ted Dawson is a complete idiot. He does not have a single trait that makes his existence tolerable.

I find Ted to be knowledgeable and hilarious all at the same time, his constant Dad jokes are some real knee slappers!

I believe that Dalton had some "other" health issues that he could not overcome at Montana and apparently could not overcome them at MSU either. It has nothing to do with work ethic. No need to drag the kid down. He is a great kid and this has nothing to do with attitude or work ethic. I wish him well and others should do the same thing.

I know he had surgeries in both feet and both shoulders. (He took a beating catching and returning the football and playing defensive back for 4 years of AA varsity football) Most will remember he had surgery here at UM, well he had surgery again when he arrived at MSU.

It's a shame to see a kid with so much talent (hands/absolute blazing speed/toughness) have to hang it up.

As much as I wanted to see him play (even for the cats), I am thankful he won't be torching the Griz.

He is a very nice and respectful kid, and comes from a great family. He is very bright and will do well, just as his family has and is doing.
