Dareon Nash To the transfer Portal

Hate to lose experienced cornerbacks. They make such a big difference. Hoping it is a desire to improve his studies rather than a desire to leave the program because of some internal stuff for him.

Must not have been enthused by the Oregon State CB transfers.

That was my first assumption too, but I have no idea the real reason. I thought our Cb-play was deficient last year, and for now, I Want to believe that Bobby is bringing in upgrades. But until transfers prove themselves in a Griz uniform, there is always some doubt that their perceived impact will happen. I looked at Nash's stats, but it is hard to evaluate CBs stats. They only keep tackles, sacks,INTs, passes broken-up,etc. All positive stats, but why aren't there stats concerning catches-allowed and TDs-allowed? They keep stats for almost everything else. That seems like an important stat to not keep track of,IMO.

It is not an overreaction to say if he leaves that our corner position would be in shambles.

Disagree, but whatever floats your boat.

well, I do know this is not preferable....it seems like we have a heck of a time with the corner back position...

I did observe that Calhoun was picked on by opposing offenses much more than Nash.

Didn't the Kaimin do an article on him a few weeks ago - saying he was recovering from injury and graduated with a biology degree? I thought there was a blurb in there about him recovering at home and being done with football (for now).

Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

That was Josh Egbo, another promising CB who we lost.

I honestly think that both Calhoun and Nash were average DB's. They were caught out of position many times this year. And you're right, the opposing teams picked on Calhoun a lot more than Nash. Calhoun had a hard time turning around and looking for the ball when he was in coverage.

Meanwhile msu just landed there 4th 3 star CB of the class but we can’t recruit a true CB we have to convert guys, this is pretty frustrating

I thought both were pretty good corners. Calhoun seemed more consistent than Nash. Nash was good most of the time, and then would seem to goof up (too often). I too noticed that Calhoun seemed to get to picked on at times, later in the season. Always wondered what was happening, I talked to a secondary coach about mid-season about the corners, so know the coaches' views generally. But that was before Calhoun gave up several passes in a row in several games.
