Dareon Nash to Idaho

I want to say Idaho has one of the top QB Commits in all of Big Sky. Kid had a bunch of offers all over. One to Louisville even I believe.

Update.....this kid. He has 20+ offers and was a huge get for Idaho.

Hard to figure Idaho as the choice. Get ready for JohnFreisz.2...

Just so I got this right, Nash transferred to Idaho because he is afraid of competition but the two DB transfers we got left their former teams because????????...............Bunch of hypocrites on here.

Apples and oranges. Inbound corners knew they would get limited playing time on their current teams.

Did Nash know how his playing time would shake out?

Nice spin. Nash allegedly leaves because the coaches wont give him a chance. The two incoming DB's you say they were transferring cause they were getting limited playing time. It's literally apples to apples. You can spin how you state it about both scenarios but they are literally the same thing. In both situations it appears they were transferring to get more playing time.

I drove to the Football game.

I went by car to the Football game.

My guess is the only difference are that they are coming to the Griz and Nash is leaving.

Hmmm, I didn't see any mention of the coaches not giving him a chance...course I skip half the crap on here anyhow.

Ten guys listed as corners on the 2019 roster, with everyone currently on campus or inbound (before anymore news on signing day), there are seven. Nash would have been eight. One is another convert from the offensive side.

I think Kem’s right. And it’s too bad after all the work he put in, to have to start over in Idaho. Wonder who “them” might be?

Do you feel like providing any evidence for your allegation?

I would say the OR St corners already competed for time and did not win that battle, nor would they win that battle in the future. Nash has no idea whether he would win the competition battle because there will never be one.

With that being said best of luck to the kid.

Headed to the spuds via his Instagram. Interesting.

I hope somebody tells Nash he's going to be a little slow in coverage wearing that huge chain. While that would be great for speed training, it wouldn't be so great for game performance. Toure, Akem, etc. will feast off of him.

One of the Oregon St transfers played in 6 game, and started 3 of them. He then quit. He started the first game of the season against OK St and had 7 solo tackles. He was hurt in 2018.

"Hicks-Onu, a safety who played six games this season, informed OSU coaches shortly after practice he was leaving the team. Hicks-Onu had eight tackles in Saturday’s 52-7 loss to Utah."

"Hicks-Onu started three games and was fifth on the team in tackles with 28. In 2016, Hicks-Onu mostly played on special teams, but saw extensive action in 2017, when he started twice and recorded 38 tackles."

Who cares why he left. Thank you to the young man for years of work as a Griz. If he thinks the move to BSC low tier Idaho is the best move for him...then good for him. Hopefully it works out and he has a great year. Idaho doesn’t have the best track record for putting the best talent in the field however.

Seems he was possibly a little salty about Hauck bringing in the competition by his quote.
Moving from a 10-4 playoff team to a 5-7 team certainly suggests a lack of interest in competition. He was around for 46-27 and 42-17 trompings, so has a pretty good idea how that program stacks up to ours. He will soon find out what a dickhead Petrino is.

I think its the great atmosphere that they really sold him on.

I wish the best for this young man. However, he didn't get a lot of playing time here thru the years, what makes him believe he will get more elsewhere I wonder? Maybe a team like Idaho, who needs people to play CB is a perfect fit for him to get field time, who knows? It was obvious he wasn't going to get more time this year than any other year with the Griz. His play thru the years here was only as good as the others that played CB for the Griz, couldn't see where he would be a standout at this position for this team.
Good luck Mr. Nash!

He won't. Ask him how many games Nash started in this year...

His playing time was not an issue for the Griz last season.

Beyond the possibility of Dareon not being happy with competition due to the incoming corner transfers, it's also possible he was only on a partial scholarship and he was informed it wouldn't be increased for the next season. I think these are the two strongest possibilities why he may have left. I wish him well and I don't like seeing him on another conference team. I also feel for him ending up at Idaho...

I wouldn't think a starting corner would be that concerned about 2 new transfers, especially when the other starter has graduated and the defense plays 5 d-backs. Especially when the transfers have been playing mostly safety. I would have thought that Nash had a fully schollie, but if he didn't and they gave full rides to 2 transfers, then I could see that as a problem. I was told that his best friend was, Egbo, I believe, and is done. Also his girlfriend has graduated or is graduating.

Idaho does seem like an odd choice. I thought he was good player, and would have been better if he could have eliminated some of the mistakes. It seems like a loss to me.

I wish him well. It's his call.
