I understand the concern here and personally I really appreciate it. However, I’m trying to dig up snap counts and I think many people would be surprised at how many snaps Andersen has. Just because he’s talented enough to impact a game on both sides of the ball, doesn’t mean he’s in every play of the game.
How shocked would you be if I told you Olson has played more snaps than Troy?
Not at all, I expect it because Dante is healthy and used correctly. Here's the problem I have, Troy has 160 yards rushing and 18 tackles...is that really indicative of his talent? If the roles were reversed and Olson had those numbers, I as a Griz fan would be pissed because I know he would be a lot more valuable either being a stud anchor for the defense at LB or a stud 6 YPC RB, not whatever he's become by your coaches.
But what do you guys think, do you believe this is the best way to use him for the team overall? Maybe I'm not seeing it like everybody else?
The beauty of it from a guy who knows his family is that he’s having the time of his life. He’s playing defense where he wants to play. And the icing on the cake is he gets to carry the rock sometimes too. I won’t speak for anyone else but as a former athlete I’m jealous as hell at what he gets to do every Saturday.
All Troy cares about is winning. He’s said as much. Currentky, as a team, we’re winning. We’re not the MSU Andersen’s.
I literally laughed out loud when I read the comment about how pissed his family is. I get that this is a rivalry but geeze. Having to make up stuff about a 20 year old and his family is terrible. If they are unhappy they are academy award winning actors.
My personal take is I don’t get caught up in the numbers. Football is the ultimate team game. And while I’d love to see Troy with 100 tackles, 10 sacks and a few interceptions....nothing trumps winning. If we start getting killed with this strategy I would 100% support a change.
