Dante Olson STATS & Big Sky POW

Should Baer get any credit for the linebacker play? So far he seems to know what he is doing as defensive coordinator. Hopefully the db’s will play well when they face a decent passing team. Right on :thumb:

After being DC at 5 Pac 12 schools, Notre Dame, and a few other FBS schools, I'm glad finally figured out how to be a DC. It's about time.

Man I love the level this defense is playing at...

Dareon Nash had 2 picks, a fumble recovery, and scored a defensive TD and NOT be nominated for the defensive PoW b/c Olson had even bigger numbers shows what great early individual effort guys are putting into this team early on.

Agree, and I think Buss actually had a pretty big game too. Didn’t see his stats but he made some big plays and got a sack or two.
And a roughing the QB.

I didn't see that play. Was looking downfield. What happened? Clearly, a roughing? Anyone?

Lame call.

When Buss gets back to 100% there surely isnt a better line backing corp in the nation!!!

This is the huge ? Buss has been near non-existent (even though he's played) while Olson is making every-other tackle. So If and when Buss gets back to his butt-kicking ways, does he take over making all the tackles that Olson is getting now or can they both be dominant forces? I know ppl aren't gonna like my opinion (as usual), but I think once Buss regains his dominance, he'll clearly re-take the tackle lead from Olson. I love Olson's play but Buss is a way better player than Olson if both are healthy.

It’s not a zero sum game. It’s not like “if Buss’s #’s go up, Olson’s must come down”...When offensives have to account for BOTH of these guys, healthy, on the field at the same time for the majority of the game it'll just create MORE headaches for the OC.

While l I do still believe the number of Olson's tackles will go down (if/when Buss returns to his normal self), he has more than proven to be a major force and a great asset to the defensive corp. How many tackles he gets credited for really isn't important to me, as long as he makes the tackles when he is needed. I am the #1 person in the world that finds the new statistical norms(giving 2 tackles every play even if the assisted tackle is meaningless) as misleading at minimum and often fraudulent. Dante's tackle totals in the first 2 home games were definitely legit,IMO. He was the main or lone tackler on 90% of his credited tackles, by my recollection. Unfortunately almost every college does their best to pad their star players numbers these days and I have almost no faith in "tackle numbers" anymore. It's not meaningless, but it's the most potentially misleading (and easily manipulated) stat out there.
