Gee, he's so 'slow' but manages to be on the scene at every tackle, practically. Maybe a more telling 40 time would be 5 forward, 5 back, 10 lateral, 5 forward, 5 back, 10 lateral. Who the hell on defense is running 40 yards straight forward? Only the guy that misread the play and is trying to run down a back/receiver. Maybe I'm crazy?

Come on man...even the biggest homers of homers can acknowledge it is important and that mark does not mean the greatest of things for Dante.

For reference, Peyton Manning ran a 4.8 40 compared to Dante’s 4.88. Let that sink in for a second.

It matters....Manti Teo ran a 4.82 and it showed in the NFL. Guy was a tackling machine in college. Consensus First Team All-American, Heisman Runner Up etc, but didn’t have the speed to play in the NFL.

Same deal with Dante. He’s a huge liability in coverage.....sorry man but facts are facts. The guy is super slow for the NFL.

Sean Lee ran a 4.75.....he has been an OK player at Linebacker in the NFL.

After observing it's clear this clown doesn't realize how utterly pathetic he is.

I live in Western Montana. Not a lot of cornfields to play in.

I have no dog in this fight but you are way off base. He very possibly could go late or undrafted but it wont have anything to do with the 40 time he ran. Everybody especially the scouts no that the 40 on a laser is an art form and you can lose 1 to 5 tenths by simply not having the training on the start. The laser starts on first movement. If the head or arm moves before the legs the clock starts. His pro day time will be much better.
Scouts are more concerned with the shuttle, L cone vertical and broad jump.

Know not no.

That is why they run it twice. His first time was 4.89. Second time was 4.88. He's slow for NFL standards at the position. No way to try to spin it otherwise.

I must have missed it. Did Dante go and get special training on the 40 start between his 1st and 2nd attempts?

You seem to put his entire combine performance on a laser 40 when every other drill was average to outstanding.

I suspect you will disappear after his pro day when he shaves off a couple tenths.

The fact that you are even arguing those shows you dont know anything. Explosive drills(Broad jump and vertical) and change of direction drills(L cone and shuttle) are much more telling

Sean Lee ran a 4.71 for what it is worth.....which is right at about the speed needed for the position. He also competed at the FBS level.

Call it whatever you want, but there was not a single linebacker drafted last year who ran 4.88. There were four guys at the combine last year who ran 4.80 and worse at that position...

Jeff Allison- 4.82
Otaro Alaka- 4.82
Bryson Allen William- 4.88
Terrill Hanks- 4.98

Guess how many of them were drafted? 0. Guess how many tackles those guys combined for on NFL rosters last year? 0.

Not saying he can't make it, but he has a huge uphill climb to be anything more than a 7th round pick.

When does sub 4.4 Jabril Cox cure cancer? Because that's the only thing missing now....

The great thing is Olson could actually cure cancer, and our “totally not insecure” friend 2011 would run to eGriz and start posting that Cox would’ve cured it sooner if he would’ve picked a different major. That’s how his mind works.

Assuming it does?

Why are you talking about Jabril Cox in this thread?

I said Dante Olson is a 7th round guy due to his speed. 4 guys ran 4.8 and slower in the combine last year at the LB position. None of those guys were drafted or recorded a tackle last year in the NFL.

Dante has to have a much better pro day.

I didn’t bring it up.
Tomorrow is another day. Maybe the Griz won’t be part of it for you. (We all know the Griz are a part of every day for you, though).

He was the Buck winner and had 180 tackles on the season, I think his instincts have served him well in finding the ball and tackling.

I have never once said Dante Olson is not a good player. He is. He was a really good player.

But....find one guy who is contributing at a meaningful level in the NFL, playing Dante's position, who was clocked this slow.

Just saying he is slow and that is going to hurt him in the draft.
