MBBALL Dance Party! MONTANA vs Wisconsin Gameday!

Lots of opportunities missed. Length of Wisco was trouble for the Griz. Need some more beef recruited to hold our own.

I usually don’t gripe about reffing… but good god there was some tick tack crap called. Very inconsistent.

Great season men. Thank you Brandon Whitney and other seniors for your contributions and commitment. Feeling good about next year.

The Griz got nickeled and dimed in the second half by the physicality of Wisconsin and a much tighter whistle. They had to play different defensively when Pridgen and then Johnson picked up their fourth fouls on relatively cheap fouls, and just weren't good enough defensively to survive it.

As it was noted, they played good but it wasn't as offensively great as they had been over the past month. That was due in part to Wisconsin's length. They were just bigger, faster and stronger than this squad. A game that Wisconsin deserved to win, but a decent showing by the Griz. Much better than prior experiences in the Big Dance.

The Griz had a better chance today with their style and had they just been a bit closer to normal on the offensive end this would been tight inside of 5 minutes. We just got wore down.

Gonna miss Whitney. Just hit me that he isn't gonna be around anymore. Maybe not the flashiest Griz career but one of the most consistent. As I said on Twitter Sawyer didn't have to play this year and chose to fight through the knee injury and closed it out with a gritty performance. I've heard different rumors about Kai, seem to get the sense that he isn't likely to get that 5th year, but good gravy it would be great to have him back. His edge, is competitiveness sort of defined how they played late. We only had Patterson for a year, but it says a lot about a guy to take a secondary role and then to embrace it.

Truly one of my favorite Griz groups in a good long time.

I thought we actually came out of the second half with some juice. We came out and hit some shots, we cut the lead to 4, we got the crowd into it, and then from there the foul trouble started and that's when we lost all control of the game. Wisconsin had a 4 minute drought there between the 8 and 4 minute mark where they only scored 2 points. That was our chance to get back in the game but guys were too timid because of all the foul trouble. I think the biggest takeaway is avoid foul trouble, survive the run(s) and you're gonna have a chance. We did neither of those very good in the second half.

Against a team as good as Wisconsin we had to be near perfect--and we weren't, especially with shots at the rim. We missed a ton of bunnies. In the second half, Money missed two short jumpers in the paint that he normally makes with his eyes closed. And of course, we missed a couple of key trey's that would have kept us in it late, one by Kai, another by Sawyer. Both looked good.

And while Kai played a terrific game, we still did not have that one player that got super hot. I was hoping early on it would be Malik Moore but he cooled down after an early five-point start.

Sadly, the final score does not reflect that it was a much more competitive game. So be it. Now our goals:
--Bring Money back;
--Get another year for Kai, who played extremely well;
--Recruit some height.

In the end, nothing to be greatly embarrassed about. Down four in the second half against one of the best teams in the country. We displayed the character that has defined this team all year.

Moore could have redshirted this year and chose not to.

Another guy to be excited about for the Griz next year.
