Dan O'Connell's response (the guy who didn't vote for ewu)

Like most Easterners, Dan O'Connell couldn't find Spokane (which undoubtedly is pronounced as though it rhymes with "insane") on a map if you spotted him the state of Washington, which of course he also couldn't find, because the only Washington he's ever heard of is a few miles down the road from him.
 
The guy said exactly what I thought he'd say. (Actually, I'm surprised he even responded.)

I don't agree with him, but I certainly don't think he's "stupid," "ignorant," "arrogant," or any of the other choice labels people have given him here.

Can we tone down the rhetoric just a hair?

I believe the ton of his response was "arrogant". I believe his logic for his vote is "ignorant". I believe responding to an email that will get posted on message boards all over the blogoshpere is "stupid".

I do believe that shoe fits.

I have a simple question for our friend from Towson....

"Would you have voted Towson #2 in the country if they had been in the same situation as EWU?" I highly doubt that the answer would be yes.

If not rhetoric during this "silly season" what else would there be? I guess I don't understand why you want to protect this guy's feelings? He takes a fairly controversial position and backs it with weak arguments. Seems like fair game to me... Feel free to ignore anything that hurts your sensibilities.
 
I'm guessing nobody on the EWU team gives a rat's ass what this tub of goo thinks. They're number one. Congrats to 'em.

This vote shows exactly why these polls should be taken with a large grain of salt. There is always some idiot with a vote who obviously doesn't deserve one.

Perhaps he should look for work at at BCS school. But at this level, number one gets decided on the scoreboard. To base your vote on anything other than that is just plain silly.
 
After reading Dan's response it has become apparent to me that this playoff system is broken. I guess it's time to implement bowl games for the FCS.
