Damn, Season is Over, Can't wait till Next Year

BC had the big brutes that wore the Griz down.

First half, Griz battled hard, but BC rebounding hurt the Griz real bad in the first half and lead by 2. Lost count on all the second chance points made that half, but take those second chance shots away and Griz would have had a sizeable lead in the first half.

Second half, BC went to the perimeter, made several 3 pointers along with the inside game, Griz tired out and couldn't hit a shot, and Griz get blown out.

BC played pretty well on defense. Blocked so many shots I didn't have enough fingers to count them on (or pretty close to that anyway), in addition to making Griz shooters hurry some shots. Still, Griz had plenty of open looks that just wouldn't go in. But, then, it could have been that the Griz were tired from the physical play from the big BC players, and couldn't finish the shots well enough to make them.

Anyway, Great season Griz. This is the most I have ever looked for Griz basketball the next year after a season was over.

All the players in double figures today are coming back next year. Hasquet and Strait I expect to have a great season next, even better than this year.

Next year, I think if the ball bounces right, could be the year Griz make it to the Sweet 16. Will need to replace Criswell and Matthews. They will be missed, but I know the Griz will be better next year.

Congrats to the Griz on a great season. It was great to be called a bastard at work for having my school screw up peoples brackets. I hope with the above message that this is a step toward the Sweet Sixteen next season.

Bittersweet day. I picked BC in the Final Four, and they looked that good today. But we totally got worked. Good gameplans only go so far against a team of great athletes. Craig Smith looked like Shaq. We need Van Vliet or Vanderjagt to beef up and become a bruising presence down low to help out Strait and Hasquet. Smith made them look like they were 5'10'' today.

Great season, thought. We're a pretty young team and only lost 7 games. Should be favored to win the conference next year, too.

Offseason stories: 1.Trying to keep coach K. 2. Who will fill the extra scholarship if the mystery man decides to transfer?

For what it's worth, Matt Martin sure did not sound like a guy who is leaving in the post-game KGVO interview. I hope he stays. Otherwise, an exciting and exceptional season by The GRIZ!

Just want to thank the GRIZ TEAM (players, coaches and staff) for a great year of exciting bball! Ya did good guys!

Having big John Seyfert in the middle sure would have helped today. Oh well, great season. The future looks even brighter!

What gutsy Griz basketball team. Thanks for everything guys, especially the seniors.
I know folks like to set the way-back machine to 20 years ago whenever talking about the golden years of Griz Baskeball, but we should be focused on the here and now. These young men play great team basketball. Three NCAA tournament appearances in less than five years, a second round game. These are the golden years.
Next season begins Monday. Go get 'em Griz!!!

I'll miss Kevin, Virg and Big John, but I'm also very excited for next year as well.

Thanks Griz for the fun year, and a win this past Thursday that this Griz fan will never forget.

Thank you Griz for a memorable basketball season. Good luck to the seniors Criswell, Mathews, and Big John. We will miss you next year. Can't wait for football. But am also looking forward to next Basketball season. Lets hope Larry stays for a couple more years.

Thanks Griz for a great season and to Seniors Kevin and Virgil for their constant hustle.

We have a ways to go but we have all the ingredients to make it to the final four. Just consider Strait and Hasquet for starters. Both are every bit as big as BC's Smith, but as youngsters have not YET developed the aggressiveness. They will and must if we are to imagine ourselves as being able to compete at this level. Those two guys, especially Jordan, need to really muscle up and adopt the aggressiveness of the "beast" as Coach Skinner described Smith. Do that, hone some inside techniques on offense, and we'll make the Sweet Sixteen for starters!!

GO GRIZ!!!

Tom

Can't add much that hasn't already been said. But I am DAMN proud of this basketball team, and it has been way too long since I've been THIS excited about next season the day after the current one ended. Go GRIZ!

Bengal fan here in Pocatello, and as much as it pains me to do this, congrats Griz on a great win against NV. Also, they looked pretty good against BC, but after 20 minutes, could see BC is a legit team. Again, congrats to the Griz for winning and giving the Sky a little respect. Here's to next years ISU/UM games.

I must have missed something along the way this year since J. Seyfert sustained his injury before the season as I remember but your all talking like he won't be back next year. I know he spent one year at St. Louis, red-shirted a year after transferring to UM according to NCAA transfer rules, then played the past two years in a total of fifty games; but that technically is only three years of playing time. Are there no NCAA provisions for a medical red-shirt allowing a fourth year of playing time?
From my understanding, since he transfered, he lost the ability to use a medical redshirt.
