Damn! RIP George Foreman

More people come here than any other thread, so I thought this was the best place. Boxer, church minister, and grill guy George Foreman died today at age 76. A good man, and we will miss his sunny smile and engaging manner.

I remember when he won the 1968 Gold Medal in Mexico City. He held up a pocket-sized American Flag and waved it at the medal ceremony. He was exercising his American right to free speech just as Tommy Smith and John Carlos had done a few days before. A great example of how we can agree to disagree.

The IOC disagreed though, and Smith and Carlos had to leave the Olympic Village.

We all have our time, some long, some short. I've known a few who I thought deserved to have died long, long ago, but carried on for many years later. George Foreman was priceless, a true gift to this world.
