Dammit Bobby's W/L record...

There was a guy at our tailgate with a "Dammit Bobby" tee shirt; hadn't seen that one. They probably would have sold when he was 32-1 vs the BSC in '06-'09.

Thems were the days! Frankfurters were cheap, and the Grizzlies won football games. Kids who can now do long division weren't even born. A long time ago.

You can joke all you want, but those days are coming back. Bobby went like 80-2 last time around, and built this program from nothing, but it was a lot better last time, depending on which conversation we're having. This time is going to take some time. You can't just take a trainwreck of a 7-4 team with a loss to #7 Washington that would've made the playoffs with a cupcake game instead of UW, have the All-American QB quit despite being given every chance to win back his job, and go out and give up fewer than 46 straight points to a team like UC Davis and/or not get blown out by teams you blew out last year. Gonna take some time.

What I find frustrating is Bobby's continual message that every spot is up for grabs. Oh yeah, then let's see it in a game setting. Your QB is not getting it done. Your OL is far from doing anything. Your secondary is not good. Put some new people in and let's make a competition out of those spots. Maybe that will push the current starters to get better. Maybe it won't. At least we'll know who wants to play going into next year. You can't judge people from the practice field any longer because practices nowadays aren't anywhere near what a game experience is. There are some fine football players on that sideline who don't see any action on Saturdays. It's now time to see what these men can do in a game setting.

I think most of these coaches are pretty good in Xs and Os. Now let's make these players hungry to play the game.

Sometimes it's hard to recapture the magic, the swagger, that defined you as a person.

Take a look at Tiger Woods. Do you think he is any less physically able as a golfer (well, at least a few years ago after the whole scandal broke anyway)? He could still be winning nonstop, but his mental game is shot and will never come back.

Not saying that is what happened to Hauck, but he left an almost untouchable program to go be a losing coach at UNLV, "resigns", and then ends up as an assistant. He's out of the place he loves (Montana), and hasn't attained much success since.

Hauck's teams were built on swagger, on culture, on toughness, not necessarily on talent although they certainly had plenty. Can he regain that, not just for the program but as a person?

Do the Cats have one of the best D's in the conference now? I thought their D would be pretty good or good, but not a top defense.

Your statement on Robby is wrong. He is a very good player. Makes a lot of plays, is a good tackler, and makes his share of mistakes too. I believe he's the 3d leading tackler in the conference. He's getting some frosh honor mention now.

On the o-line, if you were directing that prior comment to me, I was basing it on having talked to the coaches, including Germer. The starters on the line have continued to shuffle mainly due to injuries. Changed the starters last game too. One starter is playing fairly injured now. There is a lack of depth. 2 guys on the two-deep are frosh, and, at least previously, they were hoping to preserve their redshirts. The o-line has improved, but it's not where I assumed it would be by now. Haven't talked to Germer recently.

It has everything to do with the secondary being in such a dire position personnel wise that it needed a transfer redshirt freshman to come in and start.

I'm not a Cat's fan by any stretch of the imagination, but the Cats do have an insanely good D. It'll be fun to watch the Griz get absolutely shut out in the Toilet Bowl. :lol:

So this "insanely good D", actually ranked fourth in the BSC, should be able to shut out one dimensional CPSLO at home, a team we beat by 20 on the road. We'll see. Of course, MSU is rated near the bottom of the conference in most offensive categories.

Would the griz defense be able to stop the griz offense? If answer is yes, the Cats will stop them. If the answer is no, then Griz have a chance to out score the Cats but the Cats will score quite a bit, I think. Anderson alone likely to break a couple long runs and their other back is pretty good too.

Both defenses are "ok".....but have weak spots that teams can exploit. I actually give edge to a TG game plan over a KB's.

And I do think the Griz defense would stop the Griz offense. Not because they are so good....but with soft Griz oline and no deep pass threat the weak secondary wouldn't be exposed and the Griz linebackers would have a field day disrupting Sneed and company .

We’re pretty decent on defense. Our linebackers are the exact opposite of yours and hurt the defense as a whole. If we were better there we’d probably be a top 1-2 defense.

Sorry, but I don't agree, and you are wrong. If a very good player is brought in, and starts, that's great. UM brought in a number of very good safeties. My reading comprehension is good. How's your knowledge of the game of football? Not so hot, is it.
