Yep, you nailed the ol' Buckster, Ursa.

No doubt I had some mad skills on the floor. But as you can tell from the photo you attached, I cared about my appearance as well, and always made damn sure my socks matched my classic gold Smith School Fighting Sabers unis.

Thankfully you had those balling skills! With that terrible lisp, I imagine it was difficult for people not to laugh when you told people you played for the Smith School Fighting Sabers. Kids can be so cruel.

Chuck Taylor's....unless he was wearing "The Rifleman"....
Exactly, Sacstateman! It's a little known fact outside of Montana but Chuck Connors had a small athletic shoe line in the mid-70's. They were produced in a small factory in Hysham, Montana. They were Nike before Nike. All of them had a built in riding heal which compromised some of their athletic design and eventually lead to the end of production in early 1980. Currently they are going for upwards of $500 on ebay.

I guess it was not Stockton who played in the Men's Gym that day. There was a point guard from Spokane visiting that day, and he was really good, and later signed with Gonzaga. I assumed it was Stockton, but did not know the player's name at that time. There were 3 players, I believe, visiting that day, and the only one whose name I knew was Lee. Lee was a shooting guard, not a point guard. I had all of the Ohio players who visited us over to my house for dinner. I remember that Lee had never been West of the Mississippi before, and marveled at the beauty of Montana. I remember that I took him to the Marshall Ski Area, and talked the chick working the chair lift to allow us to ride up the mountain and back. He loved it.
