Daddy Wants a Big, Bruising RB/FB!!

I think we have the perfect back on the team now if only they would let him be a running back,,,,,name is the ryan kid at 6'3" and 225,,,,the kid is a quick, hits hole extremely hard, fast enough to get to the edge, is a bull on short yardage situations and is a physical specimen.......anyone who has ever watched him run with the ball, know this is the truth.....geez, frustrating sometimes to see the arm tackle on the 5'9" 185 pounder.... we have enough jump cutters as it is......no, I'm no relation and do not know him personally, just watched him play.....

rumor is his Griz football days are done

Hopefully it is just a rumor. He is one of the best pure athletes on the team. That happens sometime though. Sometime a kid has to think about his long term health, regardless how good he is.

I'm not disagreeing with anyone. I just don't think Stiff has any interest in a big, bruiser kind of back. I don't think that kind of back fits his envisioned sort of offense.

Maybe Stitt's "envisioned sort of offense" should be revisioned into a more consistent, practical, tougher and effective offense that can avoid being embarrassed by a very bad Cats team at home. How about that?

I like it!

Nothing but a rumor. He had surgery in early December and is recovering nicely. He will be back.

Had same thoughts about Holden Ryan being the type of back being discussed. Also had people tell me they thought he was already done because of injuries. I believe the confusion is Ryan Burke is done because of injuries (also is older) and Holden Ryan has had some injuries (some coming into the program) and they were both from Billings Central. Holden was considered even a bit last year to be used at RB for a while.

Just curious, but did the surgery scuttle the rumors that had nothing to do with his health too?

wow. Wasn't aware of any non health related issues, if I'm reading your post correctly. Everything I've heard is he's chomping at the bit. Frustrated with the injuries, but very psyched to get back.

I think the first person you need to convince of this "need" is Bob Stitt.

All it should take is to watch the video of the JMU-NDSU game. Abdullah won that game for JMU.

Yes he did. 5-10/195. Vision, instincts & speed. We're coming up on 2017, let it go.

Ps. Ryan's a LB, & according to Semore, as physically talented as anyone he has taking starters reps now. Imagine another JMU player instead - Gage Steele.

Personally I think those other rumors feed from his health issues. But it does seem like there may be frustration with his role.

Not disagreeing, just don't really understand why his "role" would be frustrating. He's had two season-ending injuries in two seasons at Montana, and both came before he even could have had a role. That's no one's fault. Not his, nor the coaching staffs.

RB's QB WR's and TE's all get better with a solid offensive line. The primary area that the team has to improve is the OL. I don't care if you have Adrian Peterson, Michael Vick, and Cooper Kupp...If you do not produce quality OL play your offense won't move the ball

CB's are always an area of concern - Ryan McKinley and Markell Sanders need to step up and after them ...?

Yah I won't get started on the defense. I am very biased in thinking that our defense last year was quite possibly one of the worst we have ever had so I am not a voice of reason when it comes to defense.

BTW, according to the team roster on ESPN, Abdullah is 5'10", 220#.

to me this ? regarding running backs can be answered with simple physics......with everything else being constant e = m x v ......we need more energy imo at the running back position.

Playing sizes from NFL.... it's not the size but the ability and heart.

Payton 5' 10" 210
Barry Sanders 5'8" 208
Tony Dorset 5'11" 195
LaDainian Tomlinson 5'10" 210
OJ Simpson 6'1" 210
Emmitt Smith 5'10" 210

Earl Campbell 5'11" 230
Eric Dickerson 6'3" 220
Franco Harris 6'2" 230
Jim Brown 6'2" 230

But game has also changed. ...1974 average drafted Oline was 255. By 1999 it was 317. I remember at UM when I was there (80's) a 265 pound tackle was very good size now that size would be destroyed by defenses
