Do you have some statistical model that could have been used?
Still hurting, eh? Give it time. You'll heal.
Since a statistical model would be stupid in this case, not sure how hurting I am as opposed to just making more fun of you.
Believe me, the fun is all mine.

Reading the other thread, I am not sure why. You come off more as a dense douchebag.

I think I'll just reserve judgment. Anybody want to join me?
We shall see what we shall see, true enough. This is still a game, and these are still young athletes going to school trying to get a start in life, and it does seem like the athletic department, which usually does these things pretty well, could have handled this a little bit better than this.
How would you handle differently? I think it's fair to cut as quickly as possible so the kids have time to figure out there next step.
I agree, better than letting them hang around until spring ball if you already know you aren't going to keep them.
I wasn't complaining about the speed or the timing, but obviously information started dribbling out, the SID said a couple of things, some rumors got out there about a couple of players that weren't true, which likely caused some consternation among the players, a couple of coaches issued corrections on their own -- all the kinds of things that happen in this day and age because of social media.

Because this is a different day and a different era, things of this sort need to be controlled and organized; let the affected kids know and issue a press release so there is no second-guessing. Shut down the rumor mill before it starts and, by all means, do it graciously. Thank these kids, say some good things about them as players and people, and don't issue odd statements about "chemistry" for some and nothing about others.

Stitt (in press conference) very disappointed about any players names being leaked by media and put on twitter by any press. Said his roster will be out in spring.

If you are not seeing a tweet by the kid himself, or a post from the UM, I would seriously doubt most of the information thrown around on here.

Nor would I be chiming in with negative comments on any of the guys playing for U of M.

The trolling is getting unwarranted traction on here.

Skyline Sports is a very good reliable source, so the information is definitely true.

Not so much this time. From Skyline Tweet..."Per @ShaunRainey Montana QB Willie Pflug, CB Chris Parker have been released. Received a text from UM position coach saying other info wrong."

Scabline Sports is 100% reliable about 30% of the time.

Stitt in press conference: we will have exit meetings when we get back in January.
So - are all these internet rumors about players cut and exit meetings all inaccurate ?

What in the he** does that mean? "Media" doesn't "leak" anything. Leaks come from the football team itself, players, coaches, auxiliary personnel. What on earth does he expect a disappointed kid to do, not talk about it? Pretend? Hauck had a notoriously contentious relationship with some of the press, but this could have been handled better. As Nate Harris tweeted, this isn't just business as usual, this is important to the kids, their families and their future. There's some tone deafness here.

If the media was frustrated with Stitt's media availability policies this year, pissing him off by leaking false (or partially false) information probably isn't going to help.

But who leaked it to the media?

I may have misquoted but it sounded like if players wanted to post info about themselves, fine but apparently there was some misinformation posted (not essentially leaked) by some (or one, clears throat Nuauanaz) media sources.

what the f*** is happening??

1) A large number of people are speculating about things they don't know.

2) Some are passing along to others as facts these things that they don't know.

3) A new coach who finished the year at 8-5 will make some changes.

4) This is difficult for all those involved.

5) Some of those in #2 above are making it even harder and should button it up.

That is pretty much what is happening.

What i'd like to think is that the players getting 'cut' were given a review of where they stand on the team and what the coaches saw their future was on the team. At that point the players is offered options of how they can retain their scholarship, contribute to the team and earn their degree. All in a similar fashion that Holmes was told that he wasn't needed at FB, but they could find a place on the D-Line.

Some player would choose to leave/ be cut from the team so they can move on to another team. Now would be a great time to offer this choice to the players so they can find another team/school prior to spring semester.

I'd hate to think that a scholarship player invest his future at a school and simply gets cut, like he was a professional player. Ultimately College football is a youth sport, in existence to develop our next generation of young men.

Well, there it is. Marketing 101. He is giving a "response" about information that he possessed at the outset, but felt no need to communicate in any fashion with the public he relies on for support, enthusiasm, donations and ... recruits. He is complaining that the "message" that he could have controlled at the outset got screwed up because he felt no need to communicate that message to anyone. What did he expect? As one former player already publicly complained, hey coach, "this is all about these kid's lives and futures," it's not all about "you."

The fact that this is a "response" already means he is one step too late; the horses were out of the barn. Where does "responsibility" lie? Where does "accountability" begin? Is it always going to be "someone else's fault?" Is he communicating a profound double standard here?

"Misreporting?" Well, its not because anyone misquoted Bob Stitt, did they?

Not a good press conference.

Marketing 102: Don't do press conferences when you're mad.

Holmes? You mean Wilson? Holmes has been at DE since he was a toddler.
