Cuts Happening?

What does this do to the APR? I'm assuming because they were cut and did not quit there is no negative effect but not positive.

I think APR was a reason you didn't see cuts sooner.

Wow, some of those names are pretty surprising. I too thought Parker was an up and coming DB for the Griz. I loved that play against the Cats where he probably saved the Griz a TON of yards by coming up and catching that punt.

Seeing Pflug and Naccarato on that list is surprising too. Naccarato was starting earlier in the season and seemed to be doing pretty well I thought. I get having Roberts out there and Horner probably cut into Naccarato's playing time but still surprised to see him cut.

Pflug is probably the most surprising. Not even sure what to say about that one...just wow.

It could have an effect on APR down the road...APR will still be effected whether or not the players that go elsewhere actually graduate....

:thumb: Sucks for the kids and their families, hope they find something. Coach's have family and kids to support and need to be able to make the changes they feel they need to make. in the end Coach will be judged on his performance and you can't demand performance from the coach then tell him he has to keep/play certain players. Also a good reminder to withhold judgement on how terrific recruits will be until they have played a couple years.

If you are not seeing a tweet by the kid himself, or a post from the UM, I would seriously doubt most of the information thrown around on here.

Nor would I be chiming in with negative comments on any of the guys playing for U of M.

The trolling is getting unwarranted traction on here.

Skyline Sports is a very good reliable source, so the information is definitely true.

Not so much this time. From Skyline Tweet..."Per @ShaunRainey Montana QB Willie Pflug, CB Chris Parker have been released. Received a text from UM position coach saying other info wrong."

Scabline Sports is 100% reliable about 30% of the time.

Nope. I'll just add this to my folder labeled, "Ways that Stitt is a horrible person". It will be the foreword in the next Krak. book. :coffee:

Colter's report was off and AJ Mazzolini reported that Naccarato and Janssen were not cut.

Just my opinion, this isn't the pros. That's why you give a guy a few years to be where he wants to be. Because he has at least a couple years without having "his guys". This sucks for those young men who bled for all of you griz fans.

Cuts are to be expected after a new coach comes in, or has had a full year to evaluate the personnel he acquired. You will see much of the same over in Bozo later this year, and everywhere a new coach comes in.

Still, I want to express my thanks to all the Grizzlies are now looking at a new direction in their life. Being told to make a change is always hard. I hope each of you find the path you need to follow and that it is good for you. Thank you!

Willy was the next coming of Joe Namath when the Griz recruited him. That's all that was talked about on this board.

I was a Willy Pflug fan, but it was based almost entirely on his highlight tapes and his hair. You mean we're supposed to actually see what they do on the field during practice?

Kind of like every QB recruit with an impressive highlight video on every sports forum everywhere (yes even BCN)? Shocker! :o

We shall see what we shall see, true enough. This is still a game, and these are still young athletes going to school trying to get a start in life, and it does seem like the athletic department, which usually does these things pretty well, could have handled this a little bit better than this.

How would you handle differently? I think it's fair to cut as quickly as possible so the kids have time to figure out there next step.

I agree, better than letting them hang around until spring ball if you already know you aren't going to keep them.

I don't think the athletic department has said anything about this, which is as it should be. No shool publishes roster cuts. Social media isn't handling this well at all.

Stop making sense. What should have happened here is someone should have constructed a poll. That would have been preceded by a snappy write up from BW getting us up to speed on what was happening. There would be somewhere between 19 & 40 pages of verbiage, and we'd present our findings to Stitt.

Things likely did go according to Hoyle with regard to the process, and as you so aptly note - wait, when does social media handle anything well? The outrage over Willy is probably because he reminded so many of us of JJ, so Stitt did him a favor if he didn't think he was a fit here. Now he can go someplace that can leverage his talents in an offense that suits him better. Good luck Willy - sorry this didn't work out.

No problem with Stitt making some cuts but I don't love the tweet about Parker being cut due to "chemistry." If that is meant to suggest that Parker had character issues then I'd prefer that the coaches had kept that to themselves rather than leaking it to the media.

Thanks for the update. I hadn't seen that tweet yet. Still surprising some of the cuts but with a new coach that's pretty normal for there to be changes.
