CU Departures

If you want to keep using 5 years, then note that Bobby was first in conference in year 3. Don’t think Sanders will be first in year 3.

Really? He has a BSC championship in his 2nd stint?

Yes, 2-0 in the spring season his third year. You are the one who keeps talking about 5 years, so I'm going to count that year.

I get your point. I really do. Wiki tells me he had the best winning percentage in Jackson State program history. Almost immediately. He could fail miserably at CU, but with some on here complaining about our coaches being unable to relate to modern players, it will be interesting to see how it turns out in Boulder after a couple seasons.

Success or no, I still think my bet with Hoops is pretty safe. Turning around that train wreck in one year is a gargantuan task.

(Oh, and if he DOES somehow manage six wins after inheriting that pile of crap, it is even MORE telling about Bobby’s slooooooow approach and 6th place finish in year 5. 8-)
Really? Explain the relationship. It's amazing how far you will go to throw shade on BH.

If Hauck had had the Portal and could have brought in 75-80 new players in the first season, he would have turned things around in year 1. Instead, it took him 2 years to get to the quarterfinals (and lose to no. 3 JMU), and a final poll no. 7 ranking. Two years to go from about 33d to no. 7.

Hauck has had access to the portal exactly as long as every other coach in America. And STILL no functioning backup QB has emerged or been signed.

Hauck didn't have the Portal when he came back to UM. The point being discussed was re-making a team in the first year. Note that this thread has been discussing CU and how Sanders will do in his first season. Try to keep up.

Humphrey was a good backup to Sneed. Brown was a good backup to Humphrey in 2021, and was 3-1 as a starter that year. Yup, Brown was not as good of back-up last year, as he was the year before.

By the way, Johnson, in addition to being concussed from the SS targeting and losing some games, also had an LCL for much of the season. This is what was causing his issues later in the season. He tried to play through it. My o-lineman friend told me this.

Good short article about the turn over and how.

"Turns out, Colorado is also benefitting from an NCAA rule for first-year head coaches. The rule is called “Aid After Departure of Head Coach,” which allows a school to cut a player. But there is a kicker. If that player decides he still wants to attend the college, but not play football, the school still has to pay for their scholarship.

So, if the third-string quarterback decides that he likes going to school in Boulder and was on scholarship, the school has to honor that scholarship, even though he’s not on the team. The player does not count towards the football team’s scholarship limit of 85, but they still have to honor it."

How about his first year with the portal? What, honestly, is he waiting for?

One of the windiest.

And THE most liberal town on the Eastern slope…
I live in Saskatchewan, you don't know from wind. And I'm not one of those people who writes off an entire community just because everybody doesn't think the way I do, well except for Bozeman of course. ;)

Exactly. If you can do it to Bozeman, I can do it to Boulder. :D

Same shit, different day!

   I'm thinking of another kicker...
I like to see the humorous side of things, so...
Let me be the first to interject the ever present question on eGriz....'but can he kick?'

Never been to Boulder, but I submit three close seconds in the 'Wind Category':
University of Great Falls.
University of Browning.
University of Livingston.

I saw 2 X 4's flying through the air in Boulder one day; that trumped Livingston for me. But it's close.
