That’s good. I’m in. Favorite charity? (And not the family reunion go-fund-me charity this time!)

Not sure what the family reunion gofundme charity was, but here's a worthy gofundme! (yes I'm aware it's from 2019, still amazing)

No charities.

Oh, you want cold hard cash to exchange hands this time? I still owe you from the LAST time, since you wanted it sent to your family reunion “fund”…I’m fine with actual cash, and if you PM me your venmo I’ll send you the $$ from the last one (Griz final ranking bet)…

I just read somewhere that one of the CU DTs went to Towson. Lets get something here please.

"Eighteen scholarship players entered the NCAA transfer portal in one day. Thirty by the end of the week.

... many wonder whether Colorado’s staff went too far in pushing out as many players as they did, clearing room for as many as 70 newcomers.

After all the cuts and exits last week, the Buffaloes were down to 60 scholarship players on board for their 2023 team. They needed to go add 25 more for their No. 1 ranked transfer class.

The revised roster lists 76 players: 12 returning scholarship players, 21 incoming transfers, 17 new freshmen and 26 walk-ons. Not listed are 17 more transfers who have verbally committed.

Among those dozen scholarship players who played for Colorado in 2022, there’s not one quarterback, wide receiver, defensive lineman or cornerback. Anthony Hankerson is the only running back left. Trevor Woods is the lone returning safety.

A total of 53 scholarship players have left the program since Sanders was hired in December. Only three other FBS programs have lost more than 30 in 2022-23: Ole Miss (32), Oregon (32) and Louisiana Monroe (31). Arizona State has pursued its own aggressive roster shake-up in Year 1 under coach Kenny Dillingham and will end up bringing in more than 50 new scholarship players. The Sun Devils have lost 29 to the portal to do so.

Colorado now has 67 scholarship players on board for 2023

There are more than 900 uncommitted scholarship players still available in the transfer portal. More than 400 left Power 5 schools, with 256 of them entering during the spring transfer window. It won’t be hard to pick 19 who’d happily accept a Colorado scholarship offer. The tricky question: How good are those players?

“Deion let the entire O-line go.”

Four transfers who joined the Buffaloes this spring have already left the program: "

Taking another look at their schedule:

... Here’s what it looks like (* = possible wins):
@ TCU
vs Nebraska*
vs Colorado State*
@ Oregon
vs USC
@ Arizona State*
vs Stanford*
@ UCLA
vs Oregon State
vs Arizona*
@ Washington State*
@ Utah
Given as much change as the program is seeing, it becomes a lot more difficult to pick out six wins. Their spring games caused a big stir (and sellout crowd) and the offense lit it up. But even Buff enthusiasts said the O had no depth, and dropped off drastically after the ones. They apparently played only token defense ... so who knows about that? A possible plus is that a fair number of the players transferring in did have at least some actual game time at their former school(s). But with the new rules for fall practice – even more watered down than before – it's hard to see how Deion and his staff can weld all the new teammates into an effective unit.

Neon Deion has his finger prints ALL OVER CU Football. Make or break, its on him. If he fails, they will send 'Ol Eight Toes' a packin', with a limp of course.

Yep. So far ... worth it. Lots of enthusiasm, and they've sold out their season tickets for the first time since 1996. https://www.9news.com/article/sport...ckets/73-6c557809-924f-45d3-bb76-1c52fd0d94e3

For their fans, even a mediocre season will be a "win." Long term, you wonder how patient – given the huge buildup – they'll be if things don't go well. Trouble is, we don't really know whether or not Sanders (and his assistants) can actually coach. Running the table in the pitiful SWAC is not much of a test.

How was Jackson State doing in the previous decades before Deion got there? Pretty good? Running the table in the “pitiful SWAC”?

Actually they were pretty good if you look back "decades." But they were not so hot in the 5 or 6 years before Sanders got there. So yes, he and his staff did turn around a mediocre (at best) team. My point was that the SWAC is so weak – evidenced by their terrible collective OOC record against FCS opponents – that it might not take a coaching genius to turn a program around ... especially with the football talent his name attracted to the school.

He and his assistants may well turn out to be good, or even great FBS coaches. I'm just saying that their success at Jackson State does not really tell us a whole lot. Personally, I don't much care ... not in any way a Colorado fan (for or against).

I get your point. I really do. Wiki tells me he had the best winning percentage in Jackson State program history. Almost immediately. He could fail miserably at CU, but with some on here complaining about our coaches being unable to relate to modern players, it will be interesting to see how it turns out in Boulder after a couple seasons.

I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out as well. I don't care about CU one way or another, but he has certainly energized their fan base.

Success or no, I still think my bet with Hoops is pretty safe. Turning around that train wreck in one year is a gargantuan task.

(Oh, and if he DOES somehow manage six wins after inheriting that pile of crap, it is even MORE telling about Bobby’s slooooooow approach and 6th place finish in year 5. 8-)

If you want to keep using 5 years, then note that Bobby was first in conference in year 3. Don’t think Sanders will be first in year 3.

Really? He has a BSC championship in his 2nd stint?
