Crunch Time for the Playoffs

PSU back up 19 - 14 on EWU midway through the 3rd quarter.

Looking like Coastal Carolina will lock up the Big South AQ. Now up 38-13 on Charleston Southern going into the 4th quarter.

EWU with two quick scores, now up 27-26 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

CP & NAU tied at 7 toward the end of the first quarter.

Villanova running away from Delaware - up 41-10.

Yep, looks like CP has it locked up. Which means EWU has locked up the AQ.
Does the AQ have any effect on seeding?
Some, but I don't think a lot. (Let's face it, several of the AQ teams are pitiful, and would not get a bid at all if they had to make it on their records, strength of schedule, etc.)

Fixed the Big Sky AQ. After watching several CAA games today, I stll think both NAU and CP deserve to get bids ... and I think they have a good chance, based on the GPI. A JMU upset of ODU will go a long way to decide who does and does not get in from the CAA. (A plus: Even the Eastern apologists have said the conference is a bit "down" this year.)

The ODU-JMU game is still on, for those of you still up to watching FCS football: NBC Sports Network. That's DTV channel 220, so it should also be somewhere on Dish network. Will decide the CAA AQ, if I'm not mistaken. (FYI: Because it is leaving the conference, ODU is NOT eligible for the CAA champiionship or auto-bid, but it should get an at-large bid anyway.)

By some convoluted formula, which I do not begin to understand, Villanova won the tie-breaker for the automatic bid among the 8-3 teams in the CAA. (Remember, the best CAA team -- ODU at 10-1 -- is not eligible for the championship/auto-bid).

Definitely weird.

Based on the bitching and complaining threads/posts, I infer that not too many eGriz posters give a s**t about FCS football unless the Griz are actively involved.

For those of you who have expressed bitter hatred for Villanova: Sorry, but 'Nova (8-3) won the automatic bid from the CAA. (Beats the Hell outa me.)

Also, if the guesses about at-large bids are accurate ... seven teams, five of them sitting at 8-3, are vying for one remaining at-large bid. That assumes, of course, that five other 8-3 teams (and one at 7-4) are "locks."

Sunday should be interesting ... even before we worry about seeds.
