i believe--and have said frequently--tinkle is the best recruiter we've had at montana. but where's the proof? yelled the critics.
I believe we're seeing the proof. against two pac ten teams, oregon and washington, two games i saw, one in person and on one tv, you could make the case that montana had the two best players on the court in a.j. and qvale. that it perhaps had the most athletic player in will cherry. and that it had another exceptional seven-footer in selvig, despite his being slowed by an injury.
i can't remember when montana has shown up in any sport against pac-ten teams with so much talent.
further, i believe with the 2010 class, that tinkle is starting to reach critical mass in his recruiting--which is to say, he's got so many star players on board, that it will be much easier to recruit other star players. he's already landed vaugn autry, a kid who was good enough to be recruited heavily by utah state, and now he's landed kareem jamar, who played on westchester's california championship team last year. i simply cannot recall a time in basketball when montana has been able to recruit this level of talent.
plus, we've got one more scholarship to give for next year.
the skeptics will say, you never know about recruits, and i understand that. but if seeing is believing, in eugene and seattle, i saw. i'm a believer.
