This will be little help, but-

The plaque in the Adams Center (probably moved to the Champions Center) reads: "hailed from the state of Montana".

I just thought it was best defensive player from the state of Montana.

No. The current chooses the next. And can be anyone, offense or defense.

The #37 Tradition - Grizzly Legacy

Grizzly football jersey #37 began its legacy in 1983.
Griz fullback and Plentywood native Kraig Paulson began the tradition of passing #37 on to a younger player who hailed from the state of Montana.
Paulson was known for his hard-nosed play and workman mentality. So the tradition began.
Number 37 has come to represent the Spirit of Montana… hard work, dedication to the team, and tough play on the gridiron.

Tucker Schye Defensive End 2017 Malta
Caleb Kidder Defensive End 2015-16 Helena
Zack Wagenmann Defensive End 2014 Missoula

Ryan Featherston Defensive End 2011 East Helena
Carson Bender Defensive Tackle 2008-10 Deer Lodge
Loren Utterback Linebacker 2004-07 Fort Benton

And since Paulson (RB from Plentywood gave it to Hauck (Big Timber), I don't think there has been an offensive player.

Such a shame that Colt Anderson or Kroy Beirman never wore # 37! But, that just shows the quality of Montana recruits the Griz get from the state of Montana.

Kraig Paulson Fullback 1983-86 Plentywood

I know this was just copied, but Tim Hauck was a safety, not a defensive end. And he was great on special teams, still remember him absolutely stuffing a bobcat punt during game in Missoula.

Saw that too. Played safety and was a pure tackling machine that hit very hard. Seemed like he blocked lots of punts in his career - special teams stud.

Not to be too nitpicky but if there's anyone that needs to be told that Huack was a safety, then they should have their eGriz membership revoked. That's like not knowing DD played QB.

Your parents need to conceive you in Montana under the Big Sky as well. If you were conceived in the bathroom at the mo club it fast tracks you to the 37 as well.
