Cotton- vote of confidence

With the primary safeties inconsistent pass defense, I feel Cotton should be playing more. He's a better pass defender and makes plays against the run too. He's been involved in many plays of late.

Isn’t he playing a lot? I think he has 8 starts in a row. I like his play too. I think the corners have had as many coverage issues as the safeties.

Cotton played safety in HS but transitioned to CB at Oregon State so he has those cover skills. I'd be very surprised if he isn't a pre-season All Big Sky pick next year.

Cotton is one of our primary safeties. We play with three safeties on almost every play. On the depth chart they are called a strong safety, free safety and nickel back. In reality we play with a Free Safety/Field or Play Safety/Boundary Safety. If everybody is healthy, Hauck plays FS, Fouch and Cotton rotate on the field side/ Fouch and Graves rotate on the boundary side. Hauck, Cotton, and Fouch have been the starting safeties since the Indiana State game.

Sask, I wasn't aware that facts were allowed on eGriz.

Cotton played safety at Oregon St. He transitioned to corner at UM. He then started playing nickel. While I sometimes have trouble figuring out who is playing which position, my impression is that he and Fouch each play a safety and nickel at various times.

As usual, I have to come in and clean up the "facts".
