If Hauck left, UM athletic financing would take a significant downtown. Most of the big financial donors are close to Bobby. Not all, of course. I know of one who donates onky when Bobby is the coach. I think it’s funny that some of you don’t realize that UM was trying hard to extend Hauck in the off-season.

Even if what you're saying is true, seems dumb that those boosters don't have higher expectations than 7-4, loss to the cats, and a quick out of the playoffs.

I get these guys are mobbed up, but UM football is bigger than one dude.

They do have higher expectations. They also like Bobby and think he’s the best ticket to get there. Maybe they would change their minds if this season turned out to be a disaster.

What does “mobbed up” mean?

Favored sons, knows the local and organizational politics, very tight with influential people who make life hell for others.

Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern is an example that comes to mind. That job will not be fun for whoever actually ends up getting it. Greg Schiano at Rutgers and Mike Gundy at Oklahoma State (at least he used to be) too.

Hauck definitely needs to be signnd to a long term deal.

The Hauck supporters deserve to eat this ssshhhiiittt sandwich for another decade.

Seems to me, by your own definition, that restricting donations in protest of who the coach is behavior that of someone who is a quitter and isn’t a real dedicated fan.

I’m also not tracking why people of means seem to be so attached to BH, like he is the only person who can succeed as coach at UM.

What happens when he retires? Do those people withhold their support?

Exactly, this sounds to me like the AD should be fired. If you let one booster hold you over the fire, you have no balls and are simply not doing your job. Money will come and go and mine is gone until there is change.

Who said the AD is letting one booster dictate what's to be done? Any AD who doesn't listen to his big boosters, isn't going to last long. I assume you don't have enough money to make a difference, so who cares. Alpha?

OK. Maybe it is time to clear the air and apparently you are the only one who can do it. You have said repeatedly that there is a contract on Bobby's desk but he hasn't signed it. Given that you have implied that you are close to the entire Hauck family it would seem that you should know the following:
1. If the contract has been offered, and Bobby wants to continue then why hasn't he signed it. Not enough money, not enough incentives, exactly what is holding him back? Your say your close to him so then please explain. Does he think this is a championship team that he can leverage into more money?

2. A corollary to 1, if he hasn't signed does he really want to continue or does he have another offer that he deems better? What, exactly is that offer since you are so close to him?

3. Did Haslem's dog come into Bobby's office and eat the contract? Then the AD departmernt lost the file and can't reproduce it so we are in limbo.

4. You are totally full of $hit, there is no contract, and you are intentionally misleading egriz because there are still some individuals that still think you are credible and actually have contacts with the coaching staff that you don't.

5. Bobby has dementia and thinks he should get a whopping raise based on what he procuced the first time around and not the $hitshow that he is putting out now.

Please enligten us all since we don't have the contacts that you supposidly claim you have.

What does “mobbed up” mean?

Define “disaster”.

You continually complain about bad fans. Do you consider this booster who only contributes when Bobby is coach to be a bad booster? If you have a bad booster wouldn't it be better to tell that person that their funding is appreciated but they can't hold the program hostage over one individual and that winning with another coach will bring in additional donors to offset their obtuse position? Maybe that "one" booster is you????

THIS booster will only donate when Bobby’s gone. And if Bobby were booted, I’d donate a shiteload more. I’d love to know how PR defines “big financial donors”….

I'm confused. I thought he said no boosters were involved with withholding money when Stitt was evaluated.

I define this one as being worth several hundred million.

This booster doesn't hold the U hostage over anything. He doesn't throw his weight around. He just donates when he wants to and to what he wants to.

I'm not aware of any boosters that said they would withhold money over Stitt. Donating when you want to, is not withholding money. No one is obligated to donate to any university.

The only people I know who threaten to withhold money, are ones who don't have much to donate anyway. So, who cares?

SOoooo, what you’re saying here is that UM coaching is tightly controlled by a Cabal of highly secretive and sensitive but well healed businessmen? Explains a lot. The masses are to be controlled by the fear of losing said resources! :)

What you said is a good recap of what I was thinking, but as Hoops has explained he didn't say that, it's not true. 8-)
