Connor Strahm

Dudes a beast. Who gives a shit about 15 yards once every 4 games a year. He's an enforcer and a bully out there. The benefits of his style of play far and away outweigh the downsides.

I hope we've got 5 more Strahms in the making at LB.
You must have missed the MSU game. There were no "benefits of his style of play."

Pretty unfair to single him out for the MSU debacle.

Connor's personal foul when he reached over and tapped the MSU lineman was a very key play in the game.

I am in no way letting him off the hook for anything, my point was it was far from just being him. I just quickly re-watched some of the game, and Banks made several poor plays, the long TD run by the QB and the long run by Brekke just to name a couple. For all the hype the LB's get, they all struggled that day, as did some DE wearing #37.

There is absolutely no reason that a MLB can't play angry and edgy with his hair on fire without also drawing penalties for it. I also agree Connor needs to cut the penalties out of his game as it only hurts the team and serves as a poor role model for the rest of his D mates. I like Connor and his game, but the team will benefit if he can show more discipline as a senior leader.

This is where I line up too. My view is that it's okay to have an o-line enforcer, like Quinn, but otherwise personal fouls are usually way too costly. There are many very aggressive hard-hitting players who don't get personal fouls. Taking chances with late hits on the sidelines in this era, is not good football. None of this is directed at Strahm, just at the subject.

I think the issues we had containing Murray started with coaching and scheme. That's gotta be something that gets cleaned up this year.

off topic, but when does PaytonLives usually start his Easter sermon? I'd hate to miss it...

I like the way Connor plays. Does he take a dumb penalty every now and then, sure, never saw an unnecessary roughness that I didn't wish we didn't take, but still. You need someone with a bit of the "mongrel" in them. To quote the great Tana Umaga "It's not bloody tiddlywinks is it."

It's the way he acts like a soccer player and dives that really bothers me. Nothing acting like a "mongrel" about that, looks more like a "fairy" to me.

no great lost...the guy is a smack talker..time to move on!

get used to hearing his name. He's the starting MLB for the next two years, numbnuts.
sure numbnuts..watch the kid play all last year he be sitting on the bench if he was my
player..looking for players like Brock Coyle who hits people without the show and the smacking..numbnutz

Point is, the Griz aren't "movin' on" from Strahm until HE'S out of eligibility and not a moment before. Guess it's a damned good thing you aren't a coach then.

Nope. Can't be. It was ONLY Conner Strahm who missed every single tackle that day. Only him. All his fault.

Fucking morons.

...not fair to point out one guy...
...one thing is definitely for sure...
...griz need discipline on defense...

... :coffee: ...

For those who keep saying Connor gets way too many personal fouls, I believe you were thinking about 2 seasons ago. He did get a bunch on special teams that year. However, last year I believe he only got one and it was that critical one is the bobcat game. He drew five times that from the opposing team

I thought Connor was a little under-utilized his Sophomore year. He's a fierce competitor, and too much time on the sidelines caused him to vent excessively when he was on the field.

Last year he committed a couple unnecessary roughness penalties, but he drew a LOT on the opposing teams. It was a wash at the very least.

This year, with a full year of experience as a starter and as a senior....I'm expecting Connor to continue to get into the oppositions heads, and play like a senior. I think he'll have a great year.

Wow, I've read a lot of egregious things on e-griz but this has me really shaking my head. So do third string tennis players, or golfers or gymnasts get to vent excessively and leave sportsmanship in the dust because they are under utilized? So it's ok to aim that overhead at your opponents face or crotch because your not getting the playing time you think you deserve? What about a debater who doesn't make the traveling team? Is it ok to vent excessively and kick the crap out of someone ahead of him/her. This type of excuse making for any student athlete or participant in any extracurricular activity is unacceptable and exactly the type of thing that takes support away from a football program. It is no different than overlooking sexual assault because after all, he/she is going to bring us a championship ring. Nipping this type of behavior in the bud, not condoning it, needs to be a priority for every coaching staff. I'm hoping that psychiatry is not Brewski's chosen profession.

Haha definitely a couple significant leaps within the topic there. Have no fear, I'm about as far from psychiatry as professionally possible.

Chill out and go Griz

Exactly, Brew. Sounds like somebody got steam rolled from behind by a third string guard in high school, lost his girlfriend because of it, and has never gotten past it.
