Conference Race

Ewoo: 10-2
Sac: 10-3
GRIZ: 10-3

Remaining Games:

Ewoo: 2 Home (UM, MSU); 4 Road (SUU, NAU, ISU, USU)

Sac: 2 Home (UNC, UND); 3 Road (PSU, SUU, NAU)

GRIZ: 2 Home (ISU, USU); 3 Road (ID, Ewoo, MSU)

Sac and Ewoo currently hold the tie-break over the Griz with head-to-head wins. That could change when the GRIZ play at Ewoo, of course. Sac gets a monumental break (thank you BSC!!!) by not having to come to Missoula. Sac and Ewoo split games.

Should be a very interesting finish.

I think the two seed is more realistic at this point, but I could definitely envision a scenario where the Griz end up conference champs. Of course, they'll have to win out, and do so against a pretty tough schedule down the stretch. But I would be very surprised if Sac St and EWU don't lose at least once more each, giving Montana at least a chance to overtake the top spot.

Agreed Swedish Griz. For one, they both have to play NAU in Flagstaff. It's tough to play there, and I'm not sure they will both win there. As this week demonstrated, there is a lot of parity in the league.

Incredible parity... the likes of which I've never seen in the Big Sky. Proof? Southern Utah and Montana State sweep their road swings of this week, after showing signs of improvement over the past two weeks.

The T-Birds and Cats (not so sure of the ISU Bengals) may well create some havoc in the Big Sky over the next three weeks. The only bad about that is that the Griz close out Big Sky Conf. play in Bozeman.

The conference race will be interesting over the next three weeks... to say the least.

One team that most of you overlooking is NAU. They're only one loss behind in the loss column and have a favorable schedule with four home games. Another reason Griz fans should root for the Lumberjacks is we have the tiebreaker with them as we don't have to go to Flagstaff.

Not impressed with his style, but Coach Fish at MSU may be inflicting some spark into a moribund program. Seriously, I did not think Brad Huse would do what he did at Bozeman. When you see failure in what should have been success, you stop and wonder what causes people to end up so differently than "the promise."

Not overlooking NAU at all. But, of late, another factor plays into the final two weeks of league play. The Southern swing -- which used to almost guarantee most teams a win at Southern Utah... thus at least a split on this trip -- is looking a lot tougher of late. And BOTH EWU and SAC have to make that swing.

Honestly, the Big Sky Conf. standings could look a lot different in two weeks, with possible scenarios showing EWU, SAC, NAU or Montana in first place... or any one of the four in fourth place as well. I'm sort of counting UNC out of a top-four finish at this point.

Well, they're actually two back in the loss column (and win column) from the league lead. But yes, they are in the mix as well.
