Comparing the 2015 Griz with prior Griz teams

I think that having 2 coaches working with QBs is going to have a pretty big effect on that position, I like Brady. People aren't high on him because he isn't mobile and the griz have always had a qb with the run threat, I believe he's going to have 2 big years for the griz.

D-line I think may struggle this year, losing Wags, Rehm and Takai will hurt.
I also think RB is in for a rough year potentially, Justin has is work cut out for him with a new slate of guys.
WR has problems with depth, we have some really good guys but we need more to step up obviously. If Stitt isn't happy with them then I trust that there is an issue.
OL will improve from last year, still a work in progress but I think Germer is the guy to get it done.
LB is going to be great, I'm excited to see more aggressive schemes.
I'm with BW in thinking that the secondary is going to be solid, we are recruiting a lot of good guys at that position and I think we will be set at that position for a long time.
CB I hope is solid, but I don't know enough on that to draw any conclusions.

Overall, for the weak BSC I think we have the team to perhaps surprise people and win the conference this year. If DL and secondary reload we will be a force to be reckoned with.

Good comments. I have not heard that Stitt is not happy with the receiving corps. When did he say that? I think our CBs will be the best and deepest we have had in several years. I am still not sold on the safety position. Whitted gets lots of press because of his big hits. But he gives up way too many big plays in pass coverage. The other safety position is totally unproven.

AG, at the end of spring camp Stitt hinted a little about some WR depth not being consistent, and felt some did not do enough in the spring to separate themselves. I don't remember his exact words. He also mentioned the WR's incoming for summer camp would have an opportunity to earn playing time. Beyond Henderson and Jones, the competition to fill the depth chart will be fierce in fall camp.

I had not heard that. I thought we had so many frickin' receivers that we were loaded at that position.

Stitt did not get into specifics. I am guessing based on some camp reports, a few too many WR's dropping passes a little too often, and lack of consistent big plays were his biggest concerns. Maybe those who were observing can add to this.

Similar to the OL, I think that a change at coach at that position will help. That should help Whitted with coverage, get some depth, and Rassmusen sounds solid, and he's got some years of eligibility left so that's promising.

I would suggest that we finish this season before we start comparing this team to teams of the past. Stitt will have a strong team and how strong, remains to be seen.

You don't think we should pick out the top Griz quarterbacks, running backs (Green, Hilliard, Canada) and safeties ever, and compare them to guys who have never started or played much?

Why don't you think someone who hasn't seen one practice or scrimmage under the new coach, and never played football at any level, is a qualified expert?

You know this is the internet, don't you?

:thumb: Post of the year nominee - especially the closing line, haha
I agree! Bookmarked.

Nor do I ever claim to be the "be all / end all" expert and I never hide behind that fact. I'm merely an observer and someone with an opinion and I make that point very clear.

As do I

oh, and Playa, why don't you explain to us why you hide your identity when being logged in to egriz.

I hide my identity as well, But I have invited everyone on this board and every visiting football fan to come by our tailgate and shoot the breeze in person. I guess that isn't hiding anything is it? Oh well...

Yeah, but Playa has an ulterior motive for being covert.

Does it make you feel young, Playa Rape, to call me old, when you are the same age, only I am not obese. 8-)

Sorry, but you are older than I am. I recall the old ugmb profile you used to have. I'm fine with my weight and level of fitness (and I see Titleist at the gym frequently), and I'm glad I'm not short like you.

You don't even know me. You think you know everything about everyone. You have been accused of being a stalker by other posters, and you are just that. My drivers license says that I am 5'10". And, who cares how tall you are, Jack. You are so petty. No wonder the MO Club regulars laugh at you routinely.

Yes 95 won it all but IMHO 96 was the best, look at the playoff scores. The NC, well hell look at what they had, 3-4 players in the NFL.

Come on list those playoff scores---help.
