Yahoo! is reporting that a recruiting scandal that resulted in a school-wide shake-up is being settled out-of-court with two alleged rape victims to the tune of $2.5M for one and $350K for the other. Apparently, it was found that players were induced to come to campus with sex and booze (so what else is new), and they couldn't figure out which girl was there to provide "services," and which weren't.
And, I'm not really surprised that the school is talking out both sides of its mouth: it's shelling out the money, but not admitting to any actual culpability. How hypocritical can you get?
What I'm actually surprised about was how a story about a CU rape case didn't even come close to mentioning the mother of all football rape cases: the rape of a teammate. How that happens at a school and isn't raised when a similar episode happens with the same program in a media society such as ours is beyond me.
