College Sports Madness Brackets!

Last Four In: Tennessee State, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Southern Utah

First Four Out: Chattanooga, Liberty, South Carolina State, Montana State

Questions the FCS playoff committee must answer: Does it take five schools from the Missouri Valley Football Conference? What does it do with a possible 10-2 Charleston Southern team? Does the CAA only receive three bids? What about the Southern Conference? It looks like it might be a one-team entry. And how does the committee, which usually pairs opponents based on geographical proximity to one another in the first round, handle a 24-team bracket that’s top heavy with teams from the Midwest and West regions. And finally, with Maine almost certainly getting a first-round bye, who are the lucky teams that get paired in the Black Bears’ bracket with the winner receiving a trip to Orono, Maine, on Dec. 7?

This is who they have making the tournament as of now:

Big Sky: Eastern Washington, Montana, Northern Arizona, Southern Utah

Big South: Coastal Carolina

CAA: Maine, Towson, William & Mary

MEAC: Bethune-Cookman

MVFC: North Dakota State, Youngstown State, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, Northern Iowa

NEC: Sacred Heart

OVC: Eastern Illinois, Tennessee State

Patriot: Lehigh, Fordham

Pioneer: Butler

Southern: Samford

Southland: Sam Houston State, SE Louisiana, McNeese State

Nuts, if you ask me. Interesting point-of-view though.

It's hard to argue with a lot of that, a couple small modifications and it's pretty good looking. I'd like SHSU in Missoula for revenge. I like NAU going to EWU in the second round, kind of works out a problem our conference had that could show a lot about who's the best there.

Eastern Illinois is a weird team. They look awesome from their record but they haven't played anyone that good in nearly two months. FYI Tenn St lost 44-0 two weeks ago, and that's been their toughest team since late September.

I struggle to see 5 MVC teams selected...heck, I struggle to see 4 MVC selected

MVC could very likely be a 2-bid conference. WAY more likely that 4 or 5.

Charleston Southern's resume is 10x what Southern Illinois' is. I have a really hard time believing that both Coastal AND CCU don't get in.

This is how I see it. That's 23 teams. Last spot is up for grabs between Montana State (if they beat the Griz), SDSU (if they beat YSU), UNH (if they beat Maine)...all tall orders...also in consideration would be South Carolina State & Delaware.

Personally, since I don't think any of the "upsets" are going to happen, the 24th team is Delaware.

Pretty good bracket, I would think NAU would be headed to EWU in the 2nd round unless they are seeded, only makes sense.

I also think if the Bobcats make it in, or if the Griz lose saturday and are not seeded, they may see NDSU in the 2nd round.

I also think Sam Houston drops one on saturday which may eliminate them and bump one of the bubble teams in...

They have sent four to the Playoffs multiple times. and have a 62 -50 record. Unfortunately in the same period the BSC is not quite so good. The Cats consistent once and done, Cal polys and other BSC teanms the last few years haven't helped our position etc etc. have done nothing to help our position. The guys buying out didn't help this year either. The considered teams from MVC played very well.

You need to understand just how volitile the whole thing is. Today UM is 5th or 7th depending on the poll and lock for being seeded. Like 2010 when the Griz were number 2 and didn't make the playoffs because of a couple of slip ups the Cats are in the position and out of the playoffs. Should the Griz muff it Sat, SUU win and any number of other upsets occur We could be on Sunday just like any number of other teams last year including some 10-1 teams. Hoping against Hope that we get an at large bid if that, being the 5th team from the Big sky.

You keep saying it like it's true....here's what's true: A 9-3 Griz team is a LOCK for the playoffs. A 10-2 Griz team is a LOCK for a seed.

Book it.

I keep saying it like its possible, because it is. The BSC is not that strong with the bottom 8 teams.

Exactly!

How many times have we had to say this thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over again to some posters? We are locked into the playoffs.

Agree with the first, hopeful though not fully confident on the second point. :ugeek:
