I just watched a bit on gameday where they did nothing but insult and make fun of FCS. It was about Savannah State playing Florida State. Go Savannah!!!! F*** ESPN.

I know it is borderline impossible... but I would like to see Savannah St take a giant upset & shove it up FSU's ass!!!

ESPN = NCAA in my opinion. Both bloated and over rated.

Power gone mad in both cases. I am not a big Corp. hater but I despise both NCAA and ESPN as neither has any competition and they tend to gloat and lay it on way over the top. They enjoy beating up on the down trodden. College game day sucks, you are right on!

Did I Vent?

Yeah, they cater to the big boys (that's where the money is, duh) but let's not forget that they've nationally televised several of our playoff games, also footing the bill to bring in lights.

Yea, the money is there but does that mean they have to belittle the FCS? What really pisses me off is announcers who were never athletes FCS or otherwise who have the gall to belittle the small college teams.
They are athletes, they have some pride. Give them your respect.

Agreed, but you hear the same things here about NAIA or lower divisions than ours.

That pisses me off as well. Most athletes at least know better. When you hear that crap it is usually someone who has never worn a jock.

CGD should definitely be in Boone today. Who cares about Texas A&M's inaugural SEC game. This is the biggest FCS regular season game in recent memory if not the past decade at least.

They should, but don't hold your breath for that to ever happen.

What?

Texas A&M deserves it, they have probably the best crowd in college football.

It gets scary loud there.

I don't know if crowd noise will affect the best teams in the SEC, though.

I saw them do a Div. III game once. But have NEVER seem them at an FCS game. Don't they realize the number of FCS players in the NFL? Ever heard of players like Doug Williams, Tony Romo, Steve McNair, Kurt Warner, Dan Carpenter, Brian Westbrook, Jared Allen, Randy Moss, Jerry Rice, Walter Payton just to name a few.

How do we start a campaign to get game day to Missoula for the Griz/ASU game next fall?

On another note about ESPN3...I saw today why it is #3 (bar where we watched could not get game in HD from ESPN...WTF?? Also they failed to put up the down and yardage on about 60% of the plays, again...WTF??

...Come on. I love the Griz as much as any of you. You guys forget ESPN is a buisness. Why would they do a show from Missoula? Nobody cares about the FCS except a tiny niche of the college football pie? It would be cool for the country to see the atmosphere in Missoula. I'm sure the fans would give a great showing. It isn't happening, especially in the second week of the season. We can get butt hurt about this and whine and cry why not us. Love it or hate it. ESPN is not the junior varsity. It is not in their best interest to cover this level..Be realistic

Yes it is a business and 2.5 MILLION viewers should tell them something. Anyone know the numbers from yesterday? Precedent was set with the Nov. 2007 game Amherst/Williams (Div. III). If they can do a Div. III game they could surely cover the top two programs in FCS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locations_of_College_GameDay_%28football%29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

..The key to this whole debate is that the DIV3 game was in November. I would bet there was no game of consequence that weekend. There may not even have been an FBS game with a BCS team playing on that date. Gameday did tried something cool. But you said 2.5 million vewiers? I may be wrong, but that seems like an anemic total for a Gameday audience. I don't know what the average viewership is. I'm just saying. No way does Gameday cover an FCS game on the second college football week of the year. You would get fired if you were the program director and on your watch Gameday was in Boone or Missoula..Nobody cares about the FCS.(outside of the small fan bases) I don't know why this is so difficult to understand.

ESPN’s College Gameday pregame show averaged a 1.5 U.S. rating and 2.068 million viewers during the 2011 regular season. http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2011/12/ratings-big-ten-and-pac-12-championships-college-gameday-chevron-world-challenge/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Looks like 2.5 million would be better than average!

You do have to question why Savannah St. would line up OK St. and FSU back to back. There is no other reason besides an $800k payday. If I were a Savannah St. player I would resent being pimped out by the AD.

If all of FCS programs were like Montana, Appalachian State, Delaware and a few others in terms of fan support and stadium size than it would get more respect. As longs as FCS is also 3500 fans in stadiums that look like high school stadiums then it will continue to be sub-division 1 football in the eyes of ESPN or any other sports media.

FBS teams such as New Mexico don't get alot of respect either. We all know that there are FCS programs that are as big or bigger than many FBS programs but the image is still that of small time football because most "appear" to be small time football. It is what it is. :thumb:
