College Game Day Wants a Copper Uniform

This is a pretty great read. Covers a little bit of a history of copper and gold changing to maroon and silver. It seems a lot of folks around the country are going pretty bonkers over the upcoming throwbacks. These jerseys will be available for sale afterwards and college game day wants a jersey so they can show it off this Saturday in Oregon.

Fun read. The way I remember it, there was a big profit to be turned merchandise. The Griz were the hot ticket. Hogan was the best marketing guy the Griz had ever had. Within a year of his arrival, any spot in Griz facilities that could sport an ad, had one. It wasn't just him.

Not all players were sentimental about copper and gold uniforms. Scott Gragg, who was a sure bet to be drafted by the NFL in 1995, not only disliked the uniforms, but suggested he'd chip in some of his NFL money to get new unis in a different color. His money certainly wasn't needed, but I remember him saying he would.

does gameday deserve our support? Probably not… it is the right move to take the high road. Though, we all know they will not step up and come here. Will they have a as change in heart? Maybe. Never say never. Go Griz! Proper in Copper baby!!!

college game day needs to come for cat griz this year in missoula
My original thought was that it would be many years before they come back to Montana, as that week just has too many big games at the top of the FBS level. On the other hand, I've talked to some people who have the impression that ESPN would actually like the Montana and Dakota State schools to move up, and that is part of the reason they are featuring us in Vegas.

IF that is the case, and that is a big IF, I could see them coming to Missoula to continue building the name brand.

Tell them to drop by November 22 and we can arrange for them to have one on their set.
I feel the guys sitting in front of the cameras would like to be in Missoula, definitely Pat McAfee. When all that money from Ohio State (for one) gets involved though, you know where there going to set up shop.

Scott didn't have a NC like the others. But he was right, the colors were very poor representations of copper, silver and gold. We have the silver, Notre dame has the gold and no one has the copper.

I think the "best" representation of copper I've seen was the copper helmets from University of Arizona in 2012. Not sure how that would translate to fabric - but that's be the closest I've seen that hasn't been terrible:
