cold weather prep

As you know there is a football game in Spokane this week and the forecast is for cold temps.
I'm trying to remember details of the playoff game in Msla when the Chanticleers came to town. Did they have a warm drink of some type on the sidelines? and what was that?

They had plastic yard waste trash cans full of hand warmers, I remember that. There were some old posts on here where people were watching what CCU was doing to stay warm.

Yeah, the high was 5 I believe. They brought warm clothes that they all wore, sideline coats, etc. I believe they were drinking warm chicken broth and had a warm change of clothes for the second half too. The Griz were playing the macho card and came out in short sleeves, said the cold wouldn't affect them, etc. The Coastal Carolina team accepted the fact that 5 degree weather would affect their athletic performance, and planned accordingly. Bad decision on the Griz part. Your body doesn't function well in 5 degrees in a t-shirt. I believe they're coach did all the research and bought the extra cold weather gear himself, smart move.

It was -6 when we pulled into the lot to tailgate. The hot sauce I brought to add a lil kick to the gumbo froze up solid in the bottle. If I recall they said Temps on the field dipped to -35 at times with the wind chill. Costal had their players bundled with parkas and sipping chicken broth to keep warm.

I'm not sure the forecast for eastern Washington this weekend is of much concern to YSU. The Penguins are used to playing in cold weather at the 20k seat "Ice Castle".

Temps will be hovering around 0 at kickoff without factoring in the wind chill.

It will be a fun day in Cheney on Saturday...

We'll be watching and cheering for you. (That was a little hard to say, but easier than rooting for the Cats. :o )

...no problem pulling for the beagles...
...like the old sports cliche said...
...you can't beat them..join...

... 8-) ...

Wasn't this the game were the Chanticleers qbs dad thought the game should be cancelled? If I remember right my thermometer on my car hit -40 at Manchester on my way over from Great Falls.

I believe I heard they had chicken soup at halftime. Not sure if that was bullshit or not. They did have long insulated trenchcoats like the southern NFL teams have sometimes.

Difference is the Eagles are actually good. So it is possible to have at least a little respect for them. The cats not so much...

The folklore of that Coastal Carolina game grows every year. We are down to -40 degrees now?

If I remember it correctly, didn’t one of the CC players actually die of hypothermia after the game?

You really need to get over your weather issue - he did say as we was driving over from Great Falls. Here is the weather history for Great Falls on that day:

Daily Summary
Actual Average (KGTF) Record (KGTF)
Temperature
Mean Temperature -21°F 26°F
Max Temperature -10°F 35°F 60°F (1900)
Min Temperature -33°F 16°F -33°F (2013)

http://weather1.herald.com/history/...statename=&reqdb.zip=&reqdb.magic=&reqdb.wmo=

So -33 in Great Falls it is almost a certainty he might have seen a lower temperature as he drove over the continental divide that day.

Not sure about death, but I am pretty sure several are missing limbs, fingers, and toes.

Coastal Carolina were the smart ones in this game. They were bundled up like eskimo's. The Griz on the other hand looked like popcicles. I believe hypothermia killed the Griz, our season ended on that day.

I think most of our guys are prepping by making sure their favorite snacks and blankets are available by the time they get ready to watch their rivals play for a chance at a natty.....

SMFH!!!!

I heard that, and another one ended up in the hospital. I blame the weather for winning that game for CC, it had nothing to do with our team not being as good. This site never disappoints
