Cody Kirk

I respect the hell out of Kirk. To start for a quality FCS program for as many years as he did means he was a good running back. PERIOD. And yes, I called Montana State a quality FCS program. That fact cannot be disputed. Also, the numbers Kirk put up in his career were pretty impressive considering that for most of it, MSU's offensive line was considered one of the biggest weaknesses on the entire team.

Can't and won't argue with Kem though, The Griz had his number big time.

I wonder if his production was down due to the Grade 2 MCL sprain he's been nursing for three weeks? Hung out and talked with the kid for a bit over the weekend...terrific person off the field as well.
Let's not forget about the backs he beat out in Bozeman to get the starting job. Cody was a phenomenal player, and will go down as one of the greatest backs to play his high school and college ball in the state of Montana.
His production (49 yards) was not down against the Griz; it was normal. He averaged less than 50 yards per game in his 3 against Montana and never scored a TD. A "phenomenal player" and "one of the greatest backs" should have done better, don't you think? Bottom line, he wasn't fast enough; our linebackers are faster. He made most of his hay against weak defenses. I can't recall a big critical game for MSU that Kirk was difference in their win. Oops, they didn't win those....
So now the success of any running back coming out of MSU is how well they play against Montana? If Cody Kirk isn't one of the best running backs to play here in Montana, I'd like to here who you think is that much better. Chase Reynolds & Lex Hilliard were both amazing talents; why doesn't Kirk fit into that category?

Respect the opposition, without them it's just another practice. Cody Kirk was a great college running back, so were Dan Moore and Peter Nguyen. For my money, I go to war with Moore and Nguyen because they wore our colours. It doesn't make them better players it just makes them GRIZ and "you gotta dance with who brung ya"

Reynolds, Hilliard, Green and Humpfrey showed up for big games and were primary reasons Montana won most of those games. Humpfrey and Reynolds both led their teams to two NC games; Yo's won one.

Whenever MSU had the stage for the opportunity to move up to the next level and needed their star RB to excel, he consistently wasn't up to it and MSU was unable to deliver. Kirk could dominate weak opponents; not so much when the competition got tougher.

Perfect example of a dumbass acting like he knows something. Kirk's lack of success had nothing to do with his skill and especially his work ethic and heart. NOBODY workes harder than Kirk, bet your skinny ass on it. MSU's lack of consistency in the run game for "big games" had nothing to do with Kirk's skill, and everything to do with debilitating injuries and a questionable offensive line unable to make holes to run through. Pay respect where respect is due. I hated Peter Nguyen, I cringed whenever he would touch the ball because he was so damn good. I hate the griz, but I would be an ignorant fool to not respect the talent on their team. Have some respect and quit being a dumb ass.

Perfect example of a butthurt catfan in denial, a state which makes accepting facts painful. Try to understand the difference between disrespect and disputing outrageous claims like "phenomenal player" and "one of the greatest backs" with supporting facts. Kirk got the best out of what he had and I have no doubt he was a good teammate and hard worker and you read no criticism of those categories from me. That is not disrespect son; trying to put him in the category of Reynolds or Hilliard is the act of a "dumbass."
