Cody Kirk

There are a few reasons I'll accept for wanting to go to MSU. If you want a degree UM doesn't offer, or if you have a better chance to start due to the RBs you'll compete with. Sometimes these young men actually go to college for an education.

He had plenty of fun after the game last year. Sports are tough. We all take the uniform off for the last time….

Fit well into their system but very ordinary talent who overachieved. No trade for Griz list of backs.

Cody was essentially a walk on who ended up a record setting runningback at msu. Much like mariani, colt anderson...etc, he was an unheralded hs recruit who worked his a$$ off to become great.

Personally I wouldn't trade any of our backs for him. Just look at his stats. All the way up to yesterday. When the "Big Game" comes around, he seems to forget to show up. Big fumble yesterday with 49 (?) Yards. 2011 I think he had 25 yards against the Griz. I dont think he is all that great of a back compared to what Montana has had over the years. Nothing against the guy, I just wouldn't give up any Griz back for him.

Agreed, never could see the big deal. Good player for the scats, but wouldn't trade any backs for him.

He had some big games but nothing against a quality opponent. SHSU's D ate him for lunch, EWU chewed him up too. Even when the game is on the line like over the past 3 weeks, nothing happens with him. Hecran all over Weber and Monmouth but, I'm dont think thats even worth talking about. Lol

I think he had 150+ yards and 2tds vs ewu this year. Thats not exactly getting chewed up.

Also think he had a solid game v nau.

I wonder if his production was down due to the Grade 2 MCL sprain he's been nursing for three weeks? Hung out and talked with the kid for a bit over the weekend...terrific person off the field as well.
Let's not forget about the backs he beat out in Bozeman to get the starting job. Cody was a phenomenal player, and will go down as one of the greatest backs to play his high school and college ball in the state of Montana.

This year...
You guys can say what you want about him. I don't give a rats ass what anyone says, wouldn't trade him for any Griz back. Ever.

Show me class, and that is Cody Kirk. He has always been a Bobcat, his lineage includes family that won National Championships before the Griz could ever even utter the word "Champion". Don't think that Cody Kirk would ever want to be considered a "what if" for a Griz uniform. Any given Saturday it comes down to 11 guys on both sides of the ball. The Grizzly win-loss records mean jack shit on the football field. The Griz have been able to grow a stadium and a program while our administrators focused on the academics. Waded Cruzado finally came in and was able to single-handledly with the likes of this senior class of this year and last year build the program up. Good luck in the playoffs, honestly I have always supported our Montana Collegiate teams in the playoffs, including the Griz, but with the shit being said in this thread.... Damn makes me think twice. Its about MONTANA BOYS taking it to the national scene and making it happen!

Always the dick, aren't you bearassed?

While Bear Axed ways are not exactly my style, I would tell mr. grizbrokebacker1 to FO. You can't have it both ways. How many pictures have you seen on bobcat nation that are the same nature? I saw the picture of Roper and Reynolds just this last week on bobcat nation. The hypocrisy of fans never ceases to amaze me.

I respect the hell out of the guy and would have loved to see him in Maroon. But this is a stretch. A big stretch.

You can't argue with his numbers over the past 3 years. Lest we forget that Chase Reynolds (UM's Rushing TD Leader) also fumbled at a crucial moment in the game in 2010 to seal the win for the Cats. Fans are victims of the moment, and all of a sudden Cody goes from the career rushing TD leader at MSU to not being able to hold Peter Nguyen's jock. I just don't get it; the kid has talent and we would've been more than fortunate to have him on our roster.

I also heard he had an upper body injury that he played through. Tough, focused kid who will do well in life, isn't that what really matters? Would have been great if he'd played for the griz but it's a water under the bridge long ago, so I won't speculate or take potshots at a quality kid. Good luck in the future Mr. Kirk.

And both fumbles happened while they were playing with injuries, manning up to suit up for the most important game of the year (from the fans' perspective). Big props to Kirk for that. I did feel bad, though, that he fumbled RIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT after they showed a fan holding up a sign that said "Just Give It to Kirk!" Ouch. :? :?

Try 100 yards don't just make up stats to look good 100 isn't bad though .

Cody Kirk is a fine running back who had an outstanding career for the Bobcats. He would have fit in nicely on the Griz roster and reminds me in some ways of Reynolds. Not even going there about trading any Griz RB's for him but I wouldn't have complained if he walked on or was granted a scholarship at UM. It's cool he chose to follow his family tradition by enrolling at MSU and who wouldn't have been pumped up to play at the same place as their uncle after seeing his championship ring.

The eGriz Bobcat haters need to get over the fact that the Cats get quality players on their teams and give the Cats players some respect when it is due. Numbers don't lie and his stats prove he was a true asset to the Cats conference championship runs during his career. Good job Kirk and good luck in your future endeavors.

Go Griz!!

Tough, hard-working kid from a good family. He was a big part of the success that the Cats had. He is everything you would want your own kid to be. Best wishes to him.

His production (49 yards) was not down against the Griz; it was normal. He averaged less than 50 yards per game in his 3 against Montana and never scored a TD. A "phenomenal player" and "one of the greatest backs" should have done better, don't you think? Bottom line, he wasn't fast enough; our linebackers are faster. He made most of his hay against weak defenses. I can't recall a big critical game for MSU that Kirk was difference in their win. Oops, they didn't win those....
