Cody Carriger Butte DE on UW site

Wouldn't that be a good thing? If anything Butte high needs to go futher back than 10 years to find what they had more like 35 years. You need find a coach that will set the BH program back 40 years.

19 to 25 years ago Butte High was regularly in the State Championships or Semi-Finals...don't basically double their years of recent football irelevancy.

Ok guys so i have been watching and playing football my whole life! I have watched this so called freakish athlete and saw what he was capable of. As of his junior season he only had 1.5 sacks or so and had only a few touchdowns. Dont get me wrong he is a pretty good athlete but he isnt the All American everyone makes him out to be. If he was sooo good dont you think he wouldve helped lead his defense to a better season or help the offense out anymore. He is way to over rated. It is really sad when kids half of his size work harder and post better stats than the 6-7 230 so called stud athlete to come out of butte high school. That is a false statement! Carriger is a very self centered athlete and only yells for his team when the momentum shifts in a game! The reason he is getting a full ride is because Coach Kelly sees two things that you cant teach Size and Speed. Also "rick" (cody's dad) happened to coach with one of oregons coaching staff at billings west highschool. All in all carriger is not worthy of a full ride to Oregon University or any other D-1 University! If you want to see how much of a std he is check out his game film from the bozeman games and capitol game! If he has such a good work ethic then his stats would be huge but its nothing! Matt Berg a 5-10 180 senior quaterback posted abosolutely huge numbers and stats and also broke 11 school records in football! If you gave Berg the size and speed of carriger he would be without a doubt the BEST athlete to ever come out of Montana! Coach Chip Kelly you look at the game tapes of Matt Berg and see how hard work really does pay off!!! I do however wish the best of luck to Cody but i just dont see him hacking it in D-1 football!!!!

It is so blatantly obvious that you know nothing about college football recruiting and evaluating 17 year old kids that I don't even know where to begin. You honestly expect this board to believe your opinion over the opinion of a coach that was one game away from winning Oregons first ever national title? You realize Oregon had a period where they made like four bowl game in damn near 70 years right? You also say that the only reason he was offered was because his dad coached with one of their assistants at Billings West? Listen, not one fvcking coach on Oregons staff has EVER coached in Montana at any level. You made that up or people who told you made that up. The only connection that any member of Oregons staff has with Montan is their strength coach is friends with coach Oviatt and is teaching him Oregons strength and plyonetrics program. to even imply that this is why he is offered shows how little you know about "the game". Stats in high school are always always always second to size athleticism and potential when evaluating 17 and 18 year old kids. It's not who they were on high school, it's about what they can become.

Won't even comment on how stupid your Matt Berg reference was other than to say that if Dave Dickenson had the size and athleticism of Lebron James he would be the greatest qb ever.

so by your own logic i'm assuming there is no way you can respect this program after this awful stretch right? so am i to assume there is no way you can respect coach kelly's ability either? doesn't make sense you'd respect a coach on a program you have no respect for....

I've not seen Carriger play football but one thing that stands out to me is the Butte high basketball team which went winless last season. The kid was a stud AAU player for years and his class' Butte team was very competitive. A 6'7" kid with a body to justify an Oregon FB scholarship can't get the Bulldogs over the hump against a team like Anaconda? I question his intangibles but again no basis other than basketball.

Butte Tough? That is a bit of a joke these days! There is not a team in the state that has any fear of playing a Butte team. Maybe in the 70's or before, but not now. Butte Tough went away when the mines died. Apparently nobody told Butte though!

Wow, for a guy who has "played" and "watched" football all your life you sure don't know sh*t about the game. For one thing, in the BHS vs Boz games, CC was playing NG or a 0 technique in a 3-4 defense. I thought he took on the double teams very well and disrupted passes over the middle. If BHS ran a 40 front, he would be playing a DE or a true 5 or 7 technique where he would be matched up 1 on 1 vs the tackle. In games that I watched, he destroyed them when in this position and when BHS ran a 40 front. Look at the Great Falls, Skyview, and other games when BHS was in the 40 front. I believe if memory serves me right he forced 3 fumbles in GF game alone. If you watch the times that he played offense, you would have to had seen him contribute, because all he did was catch TD's. BHS was so loaded at wr last year, he only played in the redzone. Also, from my understanding, CC is one of the hardest workers on the team. Lifts day in and day out, plays 3 sports, volunteers in the community ect. To say that others work harder is untrue.

Can't wait for the BHS vs Boz game this year, word on the street here in Butte is that these two teams got in a rumble at the AA camp in Billings! To quote Bart Scott of the Jets...."Can't Wait!!!!!!!!!"

I never said I didnt repect Oregon. I wasnt alive during that time period. I didn't watch them lose 17 times a row to their rivals.
