Coach's Show

Apparently zero. Thanks again UM, Learfield and KGVO!!!!

If anyone listened in Missoula, I'd certainly appreciate hearing what was said. Maybe the athletic department can send up some smoke signals, since that's apparently where they are on the technology advancement scale.

Would someone please explain how Learfield makes so much possible for football and football fans? Yet, basketball access sucks beyond belief. I am pissed as a fan. I would be just as pissed as a coach and AD. Even more so when my basketball team is moving up in the world of college basketball.

Can we please get an explanation on this?

I'm trying to get an explanation. Because I agree, it's not right, especially when you're trying to build a top-flight BB program.

If someone has an in with Coach T, perhaps they can put a bug in his ear. Maybe he can have better luck pressing the appropriate people to get some action.

I don't really think that is coach T's problem. I would find someone in the marketing department from the AD's office. Even Jim has more to do with this business than Wayne. I think WT should worry about making sure his players are shooting their FTs. And yes, I understand the HC is the main PR guy for BBall, but this goes beyond PR, it is a technical issue.

Well of course it isn't Tinks' problem. The dilemma I'm faced with is that I've already had contact (either directly or indirectly through forwarded e-mails with: Jim O'Day, Greg Sundberg, Learfield, KVGO Management, and Grizzly Sports Properties, who manages the multi-media rights for UM. I only recommended mentioning it Wayne because I've exhausted all of my contacts and if he speaks with someone in the AD's office, or at Learfield or at GSP, they're going to listen and act. Apparently I don't carry enough weight. Mind you, I'm not asking that he solve the problem. I'm thinking something along the lines of, "Hey, Jim. How come my show isn't carried on the internet?". I suspect that'll be enough.

I just emailed O'day and Tinkle regarding basketball coverage. We shall see if I get a response that I can post here. :thumb:

All, rest assured, this is being worked on currently with the u of m and Learfield. They are well aware of coverage shortcomings. That is all I can post.

KGVO/LEARFIELD is a complete joke! With the technology available today this cannot be hard to fix. Why oh why should this bs be tolerated. I've about lost my patience. It may be easier to listen to the Bobcats.

Here ya go. He needs to hear from GRIZNATION.

I got a few responses from my emails. It is being worked on. I encourage everyone to either utilize the athletic director or click on the contact us link at montanagrizzlies.com and send some emails. I do know this is out of Tinkle's hands, but he too is a little disappointed. O'day is very aware of this. They are taking feedback and providing it to whoever is working with Learfield.

Rather it be emails to university staff or learfield, the more feedback the better. I voiced my concerns, and was very impressed with the responses. The concerns and issues go well beyond O'day and Tinkle. The information and responses will only be very general, but it is nice to know the Athletic Department is hearing out our fan base. I do appreciate it.

O'Day is always very responsive. In fact, it amazes me how quickly he replies to questions/concerns from fans.

But my concern is that I notified them weeks ago that this was a concern, and yes, I received the same messages back saying that it's being worked on, and I saw that my e-mails were forwarded to the correct people. The problem is that it's still a problem, and nothing has been resolved. I have no doubt it's being worked on, I just think that there needs to be a real sense of urgency.

I agree, and believe me Tinkle wants this resolved. O'day is working HARD. Why do I have a feeling there is more legalities involved? As much of a concern as this is becoming, if it were not legal related, I would think someone could be specific as to what the problems really are? I hope sooner than later, we at least have a resolution, or get to a point where they can educate our fans. :thumb:

I'm sorry, but I have 0 faith that anything with the poor quality of Griz broadcasts will ever improve. Here was my post on the Griz Athletics forum back in September (whatever happened to that forum?):

first this forum is a great idea, I hope it sticks and is useful.

Second, has UM given any thought to producing the TV broadcasts in-house? I think NAU does this for their broadcasts, seems like it might be a way to improve the broadcast quality and provide excellent real world experience for students.

Lastly, while the TV broadcast receives a lot of attention, I hope something is done about the radio as well - Mick and Gurns do a great job of announcing, but too often are interrupted by 'technical difficulties", and it happens every broadcast - football, basketball, coaches show, whatever. As bad as the production value is for TV it is just as bad for radio. It just looks (sounds?) bad for the school, and leaves an impression of either not caring, or just plain incompetence.

Here's to hoping things will improve.

the broadcast production is bad, it has been bad for a long time, and it shows no signs of getting better. You know how you know that the broadcasts won't get better, despite Jim O'Day or anyone else responding to your letter? because the only way they know there is a problem is when you write. NOBODY from the Athletic Department even listens to the broadcasts, so they don't know what crap they are putting out. Here is a simple idea - find a couple unpaid interns, have them listen to the game on streaming, on on the radio. Give them a hot line to call when there is a problem, someone at the studio, someone at the game. When there is a technical difficulty make a note in a log book, can get the problem fixed ASAP. After the game review with the technical staff why the problem happened, and what corrective action will be taken to make sure it never happens again. Not rocket science. Not expensive.
