Coaching for the bucks...

I don't know, something about this just doesn't feel right. I mean, yeah, a guy's gotta make a living, but where is the passion for coaching just for the sake of coaching?

There are a whole bunch of high school coaches around that state who get paid peanuts and devote their time and energy and talents. For them, it's not about the money.

Why is college coaching all that different?

C'mon, AWF. That's a little short-sighted. Sure LK is going to be making much more money in Milwaukee. But remember, that's where Jan is from. That's where LK played a majority of his career. Many people love Montana because it's home for them, and they proudly proclaim they'd never leave or that they left and are now happy they've returned. Perhaps Jan really wanted to move back home. How can we fault them for that?

Besides, how can you fault a guy who wants to coach at the highest level? That desire, to strive for the pinnacle, is viewed positively in the corporate world. Why should it be different in the coaching world?

I am not sure whether that is still Jan's "home" or not. I think her Mom lives elsewhere (Kentucky, Tennesee??).

But one of Larry's dreams has always been to coach in the NBA. He has never made any bones about that.

We live in an era of intolerance. Anyone who does not share my goals and opinions is a loser. Now, Larry K, who apparently does not see the HC of the Griz as the pinacle of success, is a loser (or whatever else people are calling him). The facts are that he will make more in Milwaukee as an assistant than he could ever make in Missoula (and probably many times more). He was given one year contracts which he kept, and he left the program in the right way. Perhaps his spouse agreed to move to Missoula provided LK took the first big opportunity to get out -- who knows? Missoula isn't everyone's opinion of heaven.

Fact is, it is easier to let go of someone you would rather not if you demonize them and I am sure LK knows this. He will take with him a lot of thanks and a few shots across the bow. I'm sure he won't look back.

I'm not sure who's being intolerant here, Grisly. And I'm not sure who asserted that Missoula, Montana was coaching heaven. And I'm not sure who is calling Larry a "loser."
