"Lame duck" coaches do hurt recruiting without a doubt.
Kids want to know who they will be working with and what to expect in general.
Lame duck? He has a long history with Montana football & coaching in general. He's the Coach this year & next year, that doesn't make him a lame duck. You're right. We should call Bobby Petrino rigt now so we can get in on the whole "cheating on yor family, wrecking on a motorcycle with a grad assistant" scenario.

You are missing the point Griz-O-Matic. Being a "lame duck" has nothing to do with Delaney's reputation, his coaching acumen or the fact that he has been a long time coach in the state of Montana. After the 2012 football season, unfortunately, Mick Delaney is a "lame duck". If he is still employed by the U of M as their Head Coach after the 2012 season, Delaney will be recruiting high school seniors/JC transfers while he has only one year of coaching left on his contract. Hence the term. What top prospect will commit to a football program knowing that the head coach will be there for one of the recruit's four years? It is nothing personal against Coach Deleany. It's just the way it is.
Jesus-H-Griz-O-Matic. Take a little time and put the Vaseline down and google "lame duck". Here's the Wiki page d-bag....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lame_duck_%28politics%29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There hasn't been a Coach in the history of coaching that hasn't or will have recruited "...high school seniors/JC transfers while he has only one year of coaching left on his contract." You either fulfill your contract or you get canned, or die or quit. You make it sound like Coach D is incapable of recruiting top prospects because he only has a 2 year contract, you obviously have never met the man. He will not leave the program in worse shape than he found it. I know you say "It's just the way it is." That's not true, that is not the way it is.
