Class B basketball-what the heck?

Just going to poke some fun at Class B basketball-Rocky Boy couldn't win a Class C championship the past two years coming up short in the title game. This year they "move up" to Class B and win the whole thing-what is going on in Class B basketball?

Nothing wrong with Class B. I have watched RockyBoy a few times this year play Shelby and the main difference is their free-throw shooting. They went 21-22 last night against Shelby and that is the reason they won. They lose 7 seniors this year so we will see but they were a very disciplined, quality team this year.

I noticed they had to beat Shepard on a last second shot. It seems like Class B ball was VERY balanced this year at the top.

And the team they(RB) kept from winning the Class C Championship the previous three years, Big Sandy, finally got that championship.

Not saying RB knocked BS out every year, but it sure seemed like it.

Here is some more food for thought on this subject. Class B Missoula Loyola beat Class A Columbia Falls (3rd at State A) and Columbia Falls beat a couple of Class AA schools this season in boys basketball. Then Missoula Loyola lost 2 straight in the State Tourney. I know you can't say that Loyola would have beaten the same two AA schools using this logic but it is very interesting. Class B basketball (and Class C for that matter) can be quality ball.

I too would love to see a tournament of Champions maybe using Champs and runners up in each classification. I would pay and travel to go see that.

Class "C" was way down. Big Sandy, sure were champs, but I wasn't impressed. Last years RB team would (could) have kicked their axx.

There are alot more class C schools than class B schools. Therefore, the cream of both classes is usually pretty comparable every year. Most Class C schools also only field basketball as a winter sport, while most class B schools have wrestling programs to contend with for athletes.

Also, I heard the Pearson kid was extremely dominant this year. Any word on who may be recruiting him? I've never seen the kid play.

He is a Sophmore this year-going to be a good one.
